"As if he could ever let them go," Harrison said, his calm tone laced with rare sarcasm.
Anastasia was surprised. From the way the old man was fuming, he clearly wasn't joking. Could Ryan's love for Susan really be so deep that he would rather sever ties with the Lancaster family?!
When they arrived home, they could hear the Grandfather's furious voice before they even stepped inside—
"...Get out! Just get out!"
"If you can't bear to part with that woman and her children, then get out of my Lancaster family! From now on, I'll act as if I never had you as a son!"
Mixed in were the anxious voices of Emily and the others, urging the Old Man to calm down and not ruin his health over this.
Just as his voice faded, she heard Susan's voice.
Susan was back too?
Anastasia quickly pulled Harrison inside.
She saw her grandfather's face was ashen with rage, with Todd constantly rubbing his chest while everyone else looked on with a mix of worry and anger.
In front of him, Ryan stood with his back straight, his expression resolute, not saying a word.
Susan was crying, tugging at Ryan's arm. "Ryan, please, don't worry about me anymore... I want to be with you, but I don't want you to be at odds with your family because of me!"
Hearing this, Anastasia raised a delicate eyebrow.
Could Susan really bear to leave Ryan? Unlikely.
A woman who would cast aside her morals to destroy someone else's family, a woman who had been a mistress for years and endured endless scorn without leaving—how could she possibly let go now?
She was probably just panicked, seeing how firm the Old Man was and fearing that Ryan would actually be cast out, causing her to lose her connection to the Lancaster family.
"Ryan! I'm giving you one last chance. Now, tell me your decision!" the Old Man roared, his face grim.
But Marina just smiled. "Talk sense into him about what? If they want their happily ever after, we should just let them have it."
She then turned to the Old Man. "Dad, this has been going on for years, and I'm tired of it. If they want to be together, let them. Why play the villain? I came back today to get a divorce."
Then she faced Ryan and said coolly, "Let's go. We can get the divorce certificate now."
Her words stunned everyone in the room.
Even Anastasia couldn't help but look at her mother-in-law in astonishment.
The only person who seemed relatively calm was Harrison, his expression showing little change.
Susan's head shot up in that instant, her eyes filled with disbelief as she looked at Marina. She couldn't believe Marina would be so magnanimous as to simply hand her husband over!
But seeing the detached look on Marina's face, she realized this was no joke.
