Maybe it was because his face looked so much like her Hubby’s…
With that thought, she turned and walked back.
"Come on, I'll take you to get that wound looked at."
Carter froze, not processing her words for a moment.
"Can't you stand?" Anastasia offered him her hand.
Staring at her smooth, lovely palm, Carter hesitated for a couple of seconds before reaching out his own hand.
Anastasia pulled him up. Seeing him bite his lip, his forehead beaded with sweat as he struggled to walk, she continued to support him on the way to find a doctor.
The wound took some time to treat, and she’d forgotten her phone was on silent, so she missed Harrison’s calls. It wasn't until she realized how much time had passed and checked her phone that she saw the missed calls.
A jolt of alarm went through her.
She was just about to call him back when a familiar voice came from behind her—
"Ana?"
She turned to see that Harrison had actually come to find her.
"What are you doing over here?" Harrison asked, walking toward her.
Suddenly, his eyes fell on Carter, and his gaze darkened for a split second.
Anastasia quickly stood up and rushed to his side. "I found Carter injured, so I brought him to get his wound treated. Hubby, are you done with your business?"
"Yes." Harrison naturally took her hand. "Anything else? If not, let's go home."
"Nothing, nothing at all." Anastasia turned back to Carter. "I'm leaving now. Goodbye!"
Harrison gave a cool smile, ruffling her hair. "He's just some kid who hasn't grown up. What's there to be jealous of?"
"Really?" Anastasia was skeptical. She knew how possessive her husband could be in these matters, so she explained that she had only helped Carter because she felt sorry for him.
Finally, she assured him, "Don't worry, I won't have any contact with him again."
Although she had a strange feeling that she didn't dislike Carter, considering his background, she had no intention of getting any closer to him, lest it upset Harrison.
After settling that, she asked him about Ryan.
Grandfather had told them to bring Ryan back, but she hadn't seen him anywhere.
Harrison's expression turned cold. "He already went back ahead of us."
Hearing this, Anastasia's curiosity was piqued. "Did he agree to stop taking care of Susan and her children?"
