Chapter 24
The words were a question, but she knew Coleman.
Coleman would agree.
He usually just asked how things went on the surface, but he didn’t really care about the result.
His concern was just like when you ran into a neighbor after dinner and casually asked, Have you eaten?
Did it matter how the other person answered?
Not important.
Sometimes Jensina thought that the reason her marriage with Coleman lasted three years was partly because of this.
Coleman would say Remember to drink some brown sugar water when she was on her period.
She got caught in the rain, and he would say, Go take a hot shower.
She fell down, and he would say, Remember to watch your step next time.
But he never made her a cup of brown sugar water, never brought her an umbrella, and never asked if she needed a ride to the hospital.
All his tenderness and care for her were just on the surface.
Sure enough, Coleman agreed and reminded me, “Remember to come home early.”
Jensina nodded obediently, “Okay.”
Whether she went home or not, he just didn’t even think about it.
Coleman and Juanita walked to the door. Juanita suddenly slapped her forehead, “Coleman, you go in first, I think I left my phone in the car, I’ll
go get it.”
“Yeah.”
Coleman frowned a little.
Jensina was never this forgetful. Even though she was young, she always did things in an organized way.
He was a lot more mature than others his age in this respect.
Never made him worry.
When Jensina walked out of the yard, she got a call from Gertrude, saying she was on her way
Just hung up the phone, got called.
Juanita had a smile on her face, “Jensina, did you know what Coleman came here for today?”
“I didn’t know.” And I didn’t care.
“I’m going to be Mr. Kline’s student too.”
to pick her
Juanita couldn’t stand how calm she always looked, always pretending. “You’re just one of the many students Mr. Kline taught at UCLA, but I’m going to be his real protégé.”
Jensina looked at her, “You know, Mr. Kline only took on one private student all these years, except when he was teaching at UCLA, right?”
“I sure knew!”
Who wouldn’t know?
Pierre had a close disciple who learned everything he knew without holding anything back. The disciple was really talented and great at
medicine.
But nobody knew who this person was.

Jensina chuckled, “Then what made you think Mr. Kline would take you?”
“Because I was more capable than you, because Coleman would have my back.”
Juanita was super confident, “Jensina, just wait and see how I beat you little by little.”

Becoming a student that Pierre made an exception for basically meant you were famous as soon as you started.
As soon as she finished speaking, she didn’t wait for Jensina to reply and turned around confidently.
It was like we had already won.
“You mean, you wanted me to take that Juanita of yours as a student?”
Pierre leaned back on the couch, sipping the digestive tea Jensina had made for him before she left, his eyes glancing casually over the gifts on the coffee table.
Millennium–old wild ginseng, top–grade cordyceps…
It cost a lot.
Very sincere.
Coleman nodded, “Yes. Mr. Kline, I knew you were at an age to enjoy your retirement, and I shouldn’t have asked, but she really had a hard time…”
“She didn’t have it easy,”
Pierre calmly cut in, “Isn’t there still you, the brother–in–law who had a scandal with her?”
Pierre just wanted to stand up for Jensina, and he was kind of sarcastic about it.
Coleman could tell too, and he spoke slowly, “You said it yourself, it’s a rumor, not a fact.”
“Hmph.”
Pierre admired how he could lie with a straight face, “Whether it’s true or not, I know it as clear as day!”
He said this, glanced toward the yard, and got so mad his beard puffed up and his eyes widened, “Hurry up and take your little lover and get out of here! Take all your stuff with you!”
“Don’t think you could buy me off with these little favors!”
One day as a teacher, a father for life!
Jensina was kind of like half a daughter to him.
If he lost his mind and said yes, forget about Jensina, Shanna would be the first one to come after him.
“Mr. Kline, as long as you wanted, you could set any terms.”
Juanita came in and happened to hear it. She walked over to Coleman, tucked her hair behind her ear, and said softly, “Coleman, what do you
think?”
Pierre was silent.
I was thinking about what herbs to use to wash my eyes after they left.
Coleman looked at him, “Mr. Kline, Juanita was right, we really meant it today.”
The attitude was really respectful.
But Pierre just felt anger boiling up inside.
I felt had for Jensina.
What the heck.
“Any condition was okay, right?”

“Of course.”
Juanita replied really fast.
She thought the Hardwick family was rich, and Coleman was generous to her and her son, so there was no way the old man wouldn’t be satisfied.
Pierre stood up and straightened his clothes, “You guys go kowtow to Jensina.”
“She gave in, you guys could come find me anytime.”
“What did you say?”
