When Cedric read the text, he burst out laughing in fury.
Sure enough, Carl was a fucking bastard. Cedric figured he should have seen it coming that Carl would hurt him.
Alfred typed out more, "Carl might have taken his core team away, but there are still plenty of capable researchers on the island.
"Lucky for us, we got them out alive. They've agreed to work at Greene Corporation's lab and promised to develop a stabilizer to help your condition."
The injection targeted the brain's neural network. Starting the research from scratch would take too long, but fortunately, there were plenty of survivors from the island. Some of them were senior scientists who'd worked on the project and knew how the compound acted on the brain.
Originally, Carl hadn't planned to leave any survivors, as he didn't want Cedric to have a single shred of chance at the cure. But fate had worked against him and thwarted his plan.
Cedric nodded. "Tell them I promise handsome rewards."
"Don't worry. I've talked it through with them, and they're happy with the terms. Everyone's heard of Greene Corporation, so no one's turning down that kind of offer."
The abandoned researchers likely hated Carl to the bone now, so that would serve as a strong motivator for them to stay loyal to Cedric.
Cedric's eyes darkened. "I want a straight answer—how long before I start forgetting things?"
He couldn't afford to forget, especially not Noelle. He'd never let Carl succeed when the latter's whole point was to make sure he forgot her.
