Noelle wrapped her arms around Cedric's neck. "Do you know why I like you so much?"

"Tell me," he said.

"Because you're always so thoughtful and always noticing every little shift in my emotions. I can't even hide anything from you."

Noelle really did love him. With him around, she didn't have to put on any masks.

Cedric held her close. "You're the only person I care about. Of course, I care about everything that happens with you."

While Noelle beamed with joy, Cedric looked at her and pressed, "You still haven't told me about what happened with swimming."

Noelle fell silent for a moment before saying, "It's not a pleasant memory." Then, she told him the whole story of the day she was reborn and how it all began in that swimming pool.

Cedric's expression darkened as he gave her a look of pain and regret, saying, "I should've found you earlier."

She could feel his heartbreak and guilt just from the look in his eyes. Reaching out, Cedric gently ruffled her hair and asked, "Do you know how to swim now?"

"I learned later. I didn't want to feel that helpless again."

"With me around, that'll never happen again."

Noelle smiled and said, "I'm not hung up on that now. It's winter anyway, and I need to buy some pretty dresses for our beach vacation."

Now that she thought about it, it'd been ages since she last visited the seaside.

"Let's just shop when we get there," Cedric suggested.

Noelle nodded. "By the way, how are things going with PZ Group?"

"Very smoothly. They're hosting a grand New Year's gala and have invited many of the victims they've scammed. They're probably hoping to squeeze out one last big payday.

"But the higher they soar now, the harder they'll crash later." Cedric's voice was cold.
