Wilbur controlled his grip, holding her securely without being overly aggressive. He stared at her with incredibly earnest eyes. "Baby, when are you going to divorce him?"
He had waited for this day for so long. Before, out of consideration for her reputation, he hadn't dared to pressure her or cross any lines. He was terrified of causing her trouble or ruining her name. So, he held back time and time again, never revealing a trace of his true feelings.
Except for that one time when she was upset, got drunk, and demanded a kiss. He had lost control and obliged. Since then, he couldn't suppress his desperate craving. Despite his constant restraint... until the day he overheard someone mention that Claire had hired a bunch of twenty-something escorts at a club.
He lost his mind. He pinned her against a door and forced her to accept him as her lover. He was willing to be her secret. He didn't care about a title.
But humans are inherently greedy. He started wanting more. He couldn't stand the thought of her being linked to any other man.
Claire turned her face away, her eyelashes fluttering down. "Didn't you say sneaking around was more exciting? What? Bored already?"
Wilbur let out a low chuckle. "Have I ever successfully snuck around with you? You don't actually think a few kisses count as an affair, do you? Baby, we're having a passionate affair, not playing innocent. Do you need me to teach you what a real affair looks like?"
As he spoke, his scorching breath swept over her ear, igniting a fire. Claire felt her ears burning.
"You sound experienced. How many people have you sneaked around with?" She knew she was being defensive, aware she shouldn't engage, but her mouth always moved faster than her brain.
Before she could even regret her words, his lips crashed onto hers. He bit her—just enough to make her gasp, but not enough to hurt.
Then, his lips brushed against hers as he murmured, "This is my first time. I have no experience."
Yeah, right!
