Never Mistake a Queen for a Lapdog novel Chapter 1251

Claire opened the door to find Wilbur standing there.

He was dressed casually, a black suitcase resting by his side. The moment his eyes met hers, a smile spread across his face.

Claire was utterly bewildered. "Are you here to say goodbye?" she asked. It was the only logical explanation she could think of.

Wilbur didn't say a word. He simply leaned forward, grabbed her hand, and pressed her palm against his forehead.

His skin was burning hot.

Claire gasped. "You have a fever?"

Wilbur hummed in delight. "Yeah. I caught a cold from freezing out there while saving you yesterday. You promised you'd take care of me."

Claire was speechless. She suspected the high fever had completely fried his brain. Instead of going to the hospital, he had come running to her?

Without waiting for her permission, Wilbur invited himself in. He collapsed onto the sofa, looking incredibly frail. "I feel awful."

He wasn't faking it. A temperature of 104 degrees was nothing to joke about.

Claire was genuinely alarmed after taking his temperature. She quickly found some fever-reducing medicine and handed it to him.

"Feed me," he demanded, opening his mouth but refusing to lift a finger.

Considering he was sick, Claire swallowed her annoyance and obliged.

Sick Wilbur was different from his usual self; there was a newfound vulnerability to him. For a woman, a man's vulnerability could be dangerously appealing. Even Claire couldn't help but steal a few extra glances.

Suddenly, the man who had kept his eyes shut slowly fluttered them open, catching her stare. Claire quickly looked away, feeling an inexplicable twinge of guilt.

Perhaps because of the illness, Wilbur was acting much more normal. At the very least, his shameless flirting had stopped.

"I haven't eaten yet," he murmured.
