Brandon’s words lingered in the air for several seconds, long enough for the atmosphere in the room to shift. Cale didn’t respond immediately. His eyes remained fixed on the man in front of him, sharp and calculating, as if dissecting every word that had just been said.

“What do you mean by that?” Cale finally asked, his voice low but pressing.

Brandon didn’t answer right away. Instead, he walked slowly toward the large window, his gaze drifting out over the city, where the night lights stretched endlessly. “Like I said, I’m curious about what my brother is after,” he replied casually.

Cale didn’t move from where he stood. “Stop circling around it. Say it plainly.”

A faint smile touched Brandon’s lips, though he was still facing the window. “My brother never moves without a reason. If he’s started targeting something, then it’s something worth pursuing.”

More precisely, it wasn’t something trivial. Not if Falcon himself had stepped in. Especially not to the point of resorting to intimidation, a pursuit like this in a country that wasn’t even his own. The stakes were clearly high, yet Falcon seemed to disregard all of it. And the one thing that bothered Brandon was this-where had Falcon gotten his support?

He had already instructed his assistant since last night to find out who was backing Falcon. But every trace had been wiped clean almost immediately.

“If you’re saying that, then you know who he’s targeting?” Cale’s voice sharpened.

Brandon finally turned to face him. He looked hesitant for a moment, then let out a slow breath. “A girl.” He paused, as if savoring the reaction that might follow. “A girl who owes him.”

Liu frowned slightly but said nothing.

Cale didn’t react right away. He simply stared at Brandon for a few seconds, then let out a short laugh, one that carried no warmth at all. “You’re saying he’s chasing her like this just because of a debt?”

“I doubt it’s just about money. You know as well as I do, when someone throws their full power into something, it means they’re after something far bigger.”

Cale pressed his fingers against his temple. “If it’s about the debt, it’s already settled.”

Brandon raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”

“I paid it off.” Cale’s tone shifted, colder, firmer. “All of it.”

Silence filled the room for a moment.

“It wasn’t even that much,” Cale continued, his gaze unwavering. “There’s no reason for him to come this far over something

so small.”

Brandon watched him closely, as if he had just discovered something interesting. “Interesting,” he murmured. “Like I said, that means Falcon is after something big.”

They all fell quiet until Brandon spoke again. “Then the question changes.”

Cale narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean?”

“Who is this girl, really?” Brandon stepped closer, his voice still light but edged now with sharper intent. “For you to get involved personally, even bringing her into the Miller family.”

Liu glanced briefly at Cale but didn’t speak. Cale didn’t answer immediately. His jaw tightened, though his expression remained controlled. “That’s none of your concern.”

The answer was short, clear, and left no room for further questions.

But Brandon only let out a soft chuckle, as if he had expected nothing less. “I don’t need the details,” he said casually. “But one thing’s certain. My brother won’t stop just because the debt’s been paid.”

Cale remained silent, waiting.

“He’s not the type to chase money,” Brandon continued. “If he’s set his sights on someone, then there’s something else at stake. Something far more valuable.”

The words seemed to weigh down the air in the room.

Cale took a step forward, just enough to close the distance between them. “Then tell me,” he said quietly, “which side are you on right now?”

The question wasn’t raised, but the pressure behind it was unmistakable.

Brandon held his gaze for a few seconds before a faint smile curved his lips, the kind that never quite meant anything good.” What do you think?”

Cale didn’t look away. “I don’t want to guess.”

Brandon let out a soft breath and shrugged. “If I were on his side, I wouldn’t be here giving you this kind of warning.”

“A warning?” Cale repeated, his voice still low.

“Yes.” Brandon met his eyes directly now, without any trace of pretense. “I just don’t want everything to spiral out of control before Falcon’s real intentions even begin.”
