Chapter 678
“Not if it’s treated immediately.” The doctor looked at Cale calmly. “But she needs complete rest. No stress, no fear, and she must not be left alone.”
Lydia raised a brow. “That last part sounds important.”
Dr. Weber took out fever medication and wrote an additional prescription. “I’ll give her an injection to bring the fever down faster. After that, she should only have fluids and light food for the next few days.”
Cale nodded once. “Do it.”
As the syringe was prepared, Naomi grew restless again. Her grip on Cale’s hand tightened slightly.
“Don’t…” she whispered.
Cale lowered his gaze to her. “No one is taking you anywhere.”
Whether she heard his voice or it was only coincidence, Naomi’s breathing gradually began to steady.
The doctor finished the injection and packed away his tools. “She may sleep for a few hours. If her temperature doesn’t drop within two hours, call me again.”
“I will,” Lydia said before anyone else could. “And… thank you, Andrew. Please take Dr. Weber home.”
“Of course, Mrs. Lydia.”
Though still confused by the tense atmosphere in the room, Andrew escorted the doctor out without another question. The suite door closed again, leaving behind a silence heavier than before.
Naomi slept with steadier breaths now, though her face remained pale. Cale sat beside the sofa, one hand resting on his knee, his eyes never leaving the girl. Lydia stood near the table with her arms folded, while Liu waited a few steps from the door as he always did.
“We postpone the flight,” Cale said at last.
Liu immediately lifted his gaze. “Sir?”
“She’s in no condition to travel.”
“Precisely because she’s in this condition, we don’t have much time.” Liu’s voice remained calm, but there was unmistakable firmness beneath it. Lydia glanced at him, then back at Cale.
Cale frowned. “She just collapsed. She has a high fever. You want to drag her to the airport now?”
“I want to get her out of this city as quickly as possible.” Liu met his gaze directly. “If Miss Naomi wakes up and is strong enough to sit through the journey, we need to leave.”
“No.”
The answer came fast and cold.

Liu did not retreat. “Sir, I rarely press you. But this time, I have a bad feeling.”
Cale stared at him without speaking.
“This place is no longer safe,” Liu continued. “Last night they were bold enough to break into her apartment. Today they know someone else has intervened. If they find this hotel, they’ll move more recklessly.”
“We have security. I already instructed you to handle that.”
“Not enough for a prolonged conflict on someone else’s ground.”
That made Cale’s jaw tighten. He knew Liu was right. Berlin was not their territory. The Miller family had connections here, but nothing like the reach they held in Hong Kong.
Lydia walked closer. “I agree with Liu.”
Cale turned sharply to her. “You know her condition.”
“I also know the threat outside.” Lydia looked at Naomi sleeping on the sofa. “If I have to choose between her having a fever on a plane or being kidnapped again in this city, I choose the plane.”
“Lydia.”
“I’m serious.” She exhaled softly. “I don’t mind going home now. If we have to, we can take our honeymoon again next year.”
Cale fell silent for a moment. Lydia knew him too well. He hadn’t even had the chance to say that reason
out loud.
“We still have a few days here,” Cale said flatly.
“We also have the rest of our lives to take another vacation,” Lydia replied lightly. “Naomi doesn’t have that kind of luxury.”
The room fell silent again.
Cale looked out the window for several seconds, then back at Naomi. She seemed much younger in sleep, fragile and entirely harmless. It was hard to imagine someone pursuing her this relentlessly.
“I’m not moving her while she’s half-dead,” he said at last.
“No one is asking that,” Liu replied. “I’m only asking for the decision now. The moment she wakes up, we leave.”
Before Cale could answer, Liu’s phone vibrated. He checked the screen, then accepted the brief call.
“Yes.”
His expression didn’t change, but his eyes sharpened.
“I understand.”

He ended the call and looked at Cale. “Sir. Don Falcon has started moving.”
Lydia stiffened immediately. “What does that mean?”
“One of his men was seen in the hotel lobby fifteen minutes ago. They’re most likely still confirming our
