Chapter 677
The hotel room door flew open harder than usual. Fast footsteps entered the main suite, followed by a rush of cold air from the hallway before the door could close again.
Cale came in first, still wearing the same suit he had left in that morning. His face was unreadable, but the tight line of his jaw betrayed the emotion he was holding back.
Behind him, Liu followed with steady breathing, as if running up several floors was nothing out of the ordinary.
Lydia, who had been kneeling beside Naomi, immediately turned her head. “Finally.”
Her voice was sharp. She rose quickly and faced Cale without hiding her frustration. “You took far too long.”
“The traffic was heavy. I came as fast as I could.”
Lydia shut her eyes tightly.
She knew she shouldn’t be this panicked, but how could she remain calm with Naomi in such a
condition?
She could have taken Naomi straight to the hospital. But what if the people looking for her were there? What if they knew about Naomi? Lydia had only just learned what the girl had been through.
No.
She couldn’t afford to be reckless.
That was why she had asked Andrew to bring the private doctor he trusted most.
Cale didn’t respond. His attention had already fallen completely on Naomi’s body lying on the long sofa. The girl’s face was pale, her lips dry, strands of hair stuck to her temples with sweat. Her breathing was ragged and uneven.
“Liu, call the doct-”
Lydia cut him off immediately. “The doctor is on the way. He’s with Andrew. I hope I did the right thing asking for his help.”
Cale exhaled quietly.
“If Andrew isn’t being slow, he should already be here.”
Then he stepped closer to his wife and gently brushed a hand over Lydia’s shoulder. “You did the right thing, love. Thank you.”
Naomi stirred restlessly again. Her brow furrowed, as though she were fighting something inside her dreams. A faint sound slipped from her pale lips.

“Uncle…”
Cale’s attention returned to her at once. Lydia looked over too.
Naomi squeezed her eyes tighter, and a thin trail of tears slid down the side of her face.
“Uncle… don’t leave me…”
The room fell silent.
Cale stood still for several seconds, then moved closer. He crouched beside the sofa and studied Naomi’s face longer than usual.
She was clearly unconscious. Her hand moved weakly over the thin blanket, searching blindly for something she could not reach.
Without saying a word, Cale took that hand in his.
Naomi’s fingers closed around his hand at once, weak but firm, as if it were the only thing she had left to
hold on to.
Lydia watched the scene, and for the first time since Cale had arrived, she chose silence. Something unfamiliar flickered through her chest, but she brushed it aside immediately. She was certain Cale was only doing this to calm Naomi.
Nothing more.
A few minutes later, the door opened again. A middle-aged man carrying a medical case entered with Andrew close behind him.
“Mrs. Lydia,” Andrew said hurriedly. “What happened?”
But the answer was clear the moment his eyes landed on the girl lying on the sofa.
“Hurry, Naomi needs to be examined right away,” Lydia said, prompting Andrew to move at once.
“Dr. Weber,” Andrew said quickly. “Please.”
The doctor gave a short nod and stepped forward. “I need space.”
