Chapter 570
“What were you talking about?” Riana asked as soon as she sat down beside Althea.
Althea turned to her, looking puzzled. Her brows drew together slightly, confused by the question. “What do you mean, Mom?”
“Your conversation with Selena. What else?” Riana replied. “I’d like to know, because I left her earlier while she was still rambling about one thing after another.”
That made Althea laugh. “The three of us had the same experience.”
That afternoon at the Miller residence it moved in a steadier rhythm than usual, though a quiet sense of busyness still lingered in every corner of the house.
After breakfast, Lydia had been the first to leave. She wore a soft-toned formal suit, her hair neatly styled in a professional look. Before heading out, she stopped by the family room where everyone had gathered.
Including Josh and Grace, who were already busy with their school worksheets.
“I have a client meeting at the law office this morning,” she told Riana. “It might take a while.”
Riana nodded. “Just focus on your work. We’ll take care of things at home.”
She also reminded Lydia not to forget the vitamins and medication she still needed to take. The accident in the past had left her dependent on them, though the dosage had been reduced significantly.
Lydia smiled softly. “Of course, I remember everything, Mom.” She leaned in and kissed Riana’s cheek affectionately. “Thank you for always looking out for me.”
Then she turned to Althea. “And you-don’t overwork yourself.”
“I’m fine,” Althea replied calmly.
Not long after Lydia left, Felicia also prepared to go out. A tablet and several documents were already in her hands.
“I have a meeting with investors,” she said quickly. “It’s in the building near TnC Group. If I finish early, I’ll head straight to Daven’s office.”
Riana let out a small sigh. “All of you are so busy.”
Felicia gave a brief smile. “Today is an important day.”
After that, the house felt quieter. Only Riana, Althea, Eli, and the children, Josh and Grace-remained.
