HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 565

Chapter 565

“I think they rehearsed their acting together. That damn doctor is quite convincing with that miserable expression,” Cale murmured.

His eyes hadn’t left the control room in front of him.

The room, located on the second floor of the television station, was filled with the glow of dozens of monitors. On the main screen, the live broadcast still showed Noel Abraham’s face. The viewer counts kept climbing, while the scrolling text at the bottom repeated the same statement over and over.

There is no biological relationship between Eli Ward and Chase Miller.

Cale stood a few steps away from the control desk, both hands tucked into his trouser pockets. His expression remained calm, almost detached-as if the confession currently shaking all of SunCity was nothing more than a process he had calculated from the very beginning.

He didn’t blink when Noel lifted the folder containing the original documents. He showed no reaction when the viewer numbers spiked dramatically.

Public reaction wasn’t what mattered to him.

Timing was.

At intervals, he also monitored other responses tied to the broadcast and Noel’s appearance-especially the growing coverage surrounding Selena. Gradually, national headlines were being pushed aside, replaced almost entirely by news about Selena and Noel. Most private stations were now competing to secure exclusive angles of the story.

Some had even contacted Cale, requesting a schedule for a press conference from the family. To be honest, he was still weighing the best move for them. Should they hold one?

Or stay silent?

The door behind him opened.

Firm footsteps approached. Detective Arron entered with quiet confidence and stopped beside him, his immediately shifting to the screen, catching the final moments of Noel’s statement.

For a few seconds, they stood in silence.

“He did well,” Arron said at last.

Cale didn’t turn. “He had to.”

On the screen, the broadcast transitioned into a replay segment. Exterior footage showed a crowd of reporters who had been waiting outside the building since before the live broadcast began.

Arron crossed his arms. “As soon as the broadcast ended, we secured him through the back exit. Noel is now under police protection. All the documents he brought have been handed over as well.”

Cale gave a brief nod.

Arron studied him for a moment before continuing, his tone shifting slightly.

“I have to say something.”

Cale finally glanced at him.

“It’s rare to see a plan executed like this,” Arron went on. “A public confession during prime time. Media pressure spreading instantly. And at the same time, Selena was lured out and taken into custody.”

He paused. “This wasn’t coincidence. This was a highly precise operation.”

Cale’s gaze returned to the screen. “Selena wouldn’t have come out if she felt threatened,” he said flatly. “She had to believe she was still in control.”

Arron gave a slow nod. “Then she’s probably on her way to the police station by now.”

“Make sure she gets a lawyer recommended by Richard,” Cale said. “I want all of them under my control.”

“Yes, Mr. Cale.”

A few seconds passed in silence before Arron spoke again.

“With Noel’s confession and the original documents, we now have a solid legal foundation for the next step.’ His gaze sharpened slightly. “So…. how do you plan to handle Harold?”

The mention of that name made the atmosphere feel heavier.

Arron continued, “We can issue an official arrest warrant today. The process can be expedited. If he’s still at the location you informed us about earlier, we’re ready to bring him in formally.”

Cale didn’t answer right away.

He walked toward the large window overlooking the television station’s parking area. Outside, police vehicles and media vans were lined up. More reporters kept arriving, filling the lobby. All of SunCity was watching a major scandal unfold in real time.

But for Cale, this wasn’t over.

“No,” he said at last.

Arron frowned slightly. “What do you mean?”

Cale turned back slowly. His eyes were colder than before.

“Harold isn’t like Selena,” he said. “If we bring him in through standard procedure, he’ll do what he always does.” His voice remained low, but firm. “He’ll negotiate for legal concessions. Stall the process with every excuse he can find. He knows how to exploit loopholes to protect himself. And I’m certain-even if we haven’t confirmed it yet-he’ll use whatever connections he still has.”

Arron understood his point, but he asked anyway, “Then what do you want to do?”
