HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 521

Chapter 521

“What do you think my mom made for breakfast?” Grace asked, looking at Felicia with bright excitement.

Since yesterday, Grace hadn’t wanted to leave Felicia’s side. Whatever she was doing, she wanted Felicia right

there with her.

“I’m not sure,” Felicia replied with a smile, gently stroking the top of Grace’s hair. “Hopefully something you love.” Then she glanced back. “After we visit your dad, would you like me to stay and watch your practice for the competition, Josh?”

Josh, who was walking a few steps behind Felicia, looked up. He paused for a moment before breaking into a wide grin. “Yes, I would.” He quickly looped his arm through his aunt’s.

“Oh… so that’s how you plan to get rid of me?” Lydia pouted deliberately.

Josh laughed out loud. “Of course not. We still love you too, Aunt Lydia.” He stepped closer to her. “There’s no way we’d forget you.”

Lydia turned her head away on purpose. “I don’t believe you.”

“I love you, Aunt Lydia,” Grace said immediately, rushing over to hug her. “Don’t be mad.’

Lydia chuckled and pulled Grace into her arms, showering her with kisses. “I love you too.’

Felicia truly felt alive in this house. The atmosphere was warm, filled with genuine closeness.

“Let’s play a guessing game,” she suggested. “What do you think your mom made for breakfast?”

As they walked along the corridor of the right-wing pavilion toward the main dining room, their voices carried easy laughter and warmth. Felicia teased Grace now and then, while Lydia occasionally offered gentle advice to Josh, suited to his age.

Without realizing it, that morning, the dining room felt different.

The long marble-topped table, usually filled with almost everyone in the house, felt noticeably emptier. Selena and Eli’s seats were vacant. Chris and Cale had already left at dawn, leaving a brief message that they had urgent matters to take care of.

And yet, perhaps because of that, breakfast felt even warmer.

Riana sat at the end of the table with a cup of warm tea, her expression relaxed. Nathan occasionally made lighthearted remarks as his grandchildren joined the table, prompting soft laughter from Josh and Grace. Felicia sat beside Althea, occasionally offering slices of bread or gently reminding Grace not to eat too quickly.

“It feels like it’s been a long time since we’ve had breakfast this peacefully,” Nathan said with a smile.

Althea nodded, smiling as well-but the smile slowly faded. “I hope this family can gather together again in full,” she said quietly. “That Daven can join us soon. Kalina too. And that whatever important matters Chris and Cale are handling can be resolved quickly.”

“I’m hoping for that as well,” Riana replied with a long sigh. “Gia,” she called to one of the maids.

“Yes, Mrs. Miller?” Gia stepped closer and dipped her head politely.

“Have you prepared breakfast for Eli?”

“Yes, Mrs. Miller. I’ve also reminded Miss Eli to take care of her health.”

Riana simply nodded.

Riana’s question made Josh glance at the empty chair across from him. He didn’t say anything, but his expression was noticeably more relaxed than before. In the end, he chose to focus on enjoying the breakfast his mother had prepared instead of dwelling on it.

“Oh, I heard you’re visiting Daven today?” Nathan spoke up this time.

Althea nodded enthusiastically. “Josh and Grace want to come along. Felicia too.”

“In that case, would it be possible to bring something for him?” Riana asked, suddenly brightening. “Maybe… lunch? I’m sure he misses your cooking.”

Althea smiled faintly. “Yes, I think so. I’ll prepare it shortly.”

What they didn’t know was that from the side garden-just beyond the row of large dining room windows- Selena was standing there. Her arms were crossed over her chest, her body half-hidden in the shadow of a lush camellia tree. From that position, every movement inside the dining room was perfectly visible.

Grace’s soft laughter. Riana’s warm smile. And most of all-Althea’s face.

Selena narrowed her eyes as she watched Althea laugh lightly, as though nothing weighed on her life at all. The woman looked so calm, so at ease, surrounded by a family that should have belonged to Eli as well.

Selena’s jaw tightened.

“Look at them,” she murmured, her voice thick with resentment. “As if this house truly belongs to them.”

Her grip tightened around her phone, the veins on the back of her hand standing out as she tore her gaze away from the window-just as Althea reached for Grace’s hand and smiled gently.

The sight stabbed at her.

Selena lowered her head slightly and tapped her phone screen with quick, decisive movements. The call connected almost instantly.

“Harold,” she said without preamble. “I don’t want to wait any longer.”

A short chuckle sounded on the other end. “You’ve never been patient, Selena.”

“I’ve managed to get into this house just like we planned, haven’t I?” Selena replied coldly. Her eyes drifted back toward the dining room, her chest burning with mounting resentment. “What you promised yesterday needs to happen today. I can’t let that woman feel like the world is standing firmly on her side.”

“Relax,” Harold answered casually. “Everything’s ready. The evidence, the witnesses, and the path to bring Daven down. I’ve made sure it all goes public at exactly noon today. Daven won’t walk away from this easily. You’d be better off enjoying your time there-and watching what unfolds.”

Selena still wasn’t entirely ready to trust Harold’s words, yet everything the man had done-and planned-had unfolded smoothly up to this moment. In the end, all she could do was let out a long breath.

“I want him to truly fall.”

“And he will,” Harold said. “Like I told you-just enjoy your time there. The process will be long. Trials take time. He could be locked up for quite a while before it’s all over. And while Daven is being tied down, that woman will slowly lose her footing. How long do you think she’ll keep receiving the support she has now?”

The corner of Selena’s lips lifted slightly. “Good. The longer Daven is tied up with his problems, the less influence he’ll have to protect his wife.”

“Just be ready,” Harold continued. “The moment will come.”
