“No,” Cale answered calmly. “But his intentions were questionable.”

Althea clenched her hands together. “Who is he?” She handed the phone back to Cale.

Cale glanced at the screen, now back on its home display, before replying. “A journalist. Fairly well-known. He’s written several articles targeting Daven.”

Felicia let out a sharp scoff. “So he came looking for fresh material?”

“That seems likely,” Cale said. “Security stopped him before he could get any farther.”

Althea couldn’t wrap her head around people going to such lengths to bring her husband down. Their methods were calculated-vicious.

What had Daven done? As far as she knew, he’d done nothing wrong, especially when it came to his company. The Callister Group had been entrusted to him by his late father, meant to be managed carefully expanded, even beyond national borders, if possible. So it made no sense that Daven would destroy something built with so much effort.

“Does Daven know about this?” she asked quietly.

“Not yet,” Cale replied. “Like I said, I asked people to keep it under wraps. But I don’t think the head of security could lie if one of Daven’s family members asked: Right, Felicia?”

Felicia let out a soft sigh. “Yes, I suppose so. If I hadn’t asked, I wouldn’t have known either.”

“Security has already reported this to Arsen,” Cale continued. “And I’ve asked him not to inform anyone else for now.”

Felicia raised an eyebrow. “Why?”

Cale looked at Althea. “Because they don’t want you to worry.”

“In the end, I still found out,” Althea said, exhaling quietly.

Cale met her gaze. “Maybe they thought the situation was already under control. The man is in the authorities’ hands now.”

Felicia’s eyes sharpened as she looked at Cale-this time, she was the one to speak.

“Are you sure no one else is involved? I mean… is it possible someone sent that journalist to the house?”

Chris gave a firm nod. “We’ve investigated it. There’s no sign of anyone else being involved. He was acting alone -working purely for a large media outlet.”

Althea closed her eyes for a moment, trying to steady herself. “I just want all of this to be over.”

Cale placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. “It will be. We just need to stay calm.”

No one spoke after that, as if each of them was quietly absorbing everything that had just been said.

“I want to visit Daven tomorrow,” Althea said at last. “With Josh and Grace.”

Her words made everyone in the living room turn toward her. Felicia was the first to respond.

“Are you sure that’s the right decision?”

“I want to make sure he’s all right,” Althea replied. “And the kids need to see their father too. They keep asking me when they can visit Daven. You know how close they are to him.”

Chris nodded. “I’ll arrange additional security.”

Felicia took a deep breath before speaking. “In that case, I’m coming with you.”

Althea looked at her. “You don’t have to force yourself.”

Felicia offered a faint smile. “I want to know how my brother is doing as well. You’re my only family. I’ve never been the type to leave my family to face something like this alone.”

Cale nodded in agreement. “The more support, the better.”

Chris turned off his phone screen. “You can all go together tomorrow morning. I’ll make sure a legal team accompanies you.”

Althea looked at each of them in turn. The worry was still there, lingering in her chest-but their presence brought her a measure of calm.

“Thank you,” she said softly. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

Felicia reached out and squeezed Althea’s hand. “We’ll get through this together.”

Cale’s phone vibrated softly, immediately pulling his attention away. The warmth in his expression vanished, replaced by tension so sharp it made him stand abruptly.

“What is it?” Chris asked, curious.
