“At last, you’re here.”

Truly, nothing could ease Arsen’s tension more than Daven’s arrival. Even though a large part of him was terrified of what might happen to his boss, Arsen had already prepared several legal safeguards for whatever charges might come Daven’s way.
“How bad is it?” Daven loosened his tie. His face looked tired, weighed down by pressure,
“They’re still going through a lot of documents,” Arsen let out a long breath. “But… they’ve started sealing the archive rooms.
Daven’s jaw tightened. “How long before they get to the central servers?”
“Less than an hour.”
“Then do it now. Make encrypted copies. Send them to my private storage.’
“Yes, sir-”
The door to Daven’s office flew open without warning. One of the staff members was trying to hold back several people forcing their way inside.
“Sir, you shouldn’t be doing this,” one of the staff members said firmly. “Our CEO won’t evade the law if it’s truly necessary. There’s no need to force things like this.”
Unfortunately, the warning earned nothing more than a cynical glance-as if what Daven was doing were some unforgivable sins. Arsen immediately urged Daven to step back. Several guards, deliberately assigned by Cale to accompany him, moved at once to block the prosecutors’ path.
“Mr. Daven Callister,” one of them said. “We’re not conducting this search without cause. We also have an official warrant authorizing all of this.’
Daven smiled faintly. Everyone in the room watched him with unease-Arsen most of all. Daven stepped forward and said calmly, “Very well. As a law-abiding citizen, I have no objection to whatever actions you need to take.”
“And you’ll need to come with us for further questioning.”
“Now?” Daven asked evenly.
“Now.”
“Sir-“Arsen tried to intervene.
“It’s all right, Arsen,” Daven said. “Please contact Richard and tell him what’s happening. And also call Althea. I may not be able to speak freely for a while.”
Arsen watched Daven’s back as he walked away, following the prosecutors. There was no room for negotiation. Daven simply picked up his jacket and left without resistance.
“Mr. Arsen, what should we do now?” the same staff member asked, anxiety written clearly on his face. The situation had unfolded far too suddenly.

“Stay calm,” Arsen replied. “I’ve already spoken with Callister Group’s public relations team. Continue working as usual-there’s no need to panic. Trust me, our CEO will get through this and restore Callister Group to stability.”
Everyone in the room nodded quietly. Though concern lingered, they believed Daven would be able to bring things back under control.
“Now return to your desks,” Arsen added. “I need to accompany Mr. Daven.”
Meanwhile, Daven’s steps halted the moment the doors to the main lobby opened.
The atmosphere that had been controlled only moments ago erupted into chaos. Camera flashes exploded without pause, overlapping with clashing voices. Microphones were thrust forward from every direction. Reporters filled nearly the entire lobby, forming a wall of bodies held back only by security personnel-who were clearly struggling against the sheer number of journalists already waiting.
“Mr. Daven!”
“Is it true you’re being detained over overseas project corruption?”
“Will Callister Group go bankrupt after this?”
“Are you going to resign as CEO?”
The camera flashes continued, blinding and relentless. Several reporters surged forward before being restrained by the prosecutors.
Daven stopped walking.
A man beside him whispered urgently, “Sir, we should move outside immediately. Our team has prepared a vehicle for you.’
Daven lifted his hand calmly. “It’s all right.”
He stepped forward, standing tall before dozens of cameras trained on him. His face looked tired, but his gaze remained steady-calm, unflinching, with no attempt to turn away.
Deliberately. In his heart, he was doing this on purpose—so the news about him would spread far and wide, reaching the very person who had forced him into this position.
“Mr. Daven, do you admit there was a misuse of funds?”
“Who is responsible for the losses in the JiangShe project?”
“Is this the end of Callister Group?”
Daven took a deep breath before speaking. His voice wasn’t raised, but it was steady enough to cut through the
noise.
“I will comply with all applicable legal procedures,” he said firmly. “And I respect the process currently underway.”
The clamor gradually softened, though the cameras never stopped recording-giving Daven space to continue.
