HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 460

Chapter 460

“Chris, don’t go too far,” Daven warned.

Chris turned his head. His fist was still suspended in the air, clenched tight, a smear of blood visible across one knuckle. “Too far?” He sneered at Daven. “This is nothing.”

Without warning, his fist flew again.

Thud!

Noel staggered sideways. The chair he had been sitting on scraped violently across the floor, screeching before finally toppling over. No one could tell how many times Chris had already struck him-but this blow landed much harder, slamming into his jaw and snapping his head sideways until it hit the edge of the table. The sound was dull, cold-like something that should never have happened in a room this sterile.

“Ugh!” Noel groaned in pain.

“DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU’VE DONE?!” Chris roared, his voice exploding through the room. “DO YOU KNOW WHAT WE WERE WAITING FOR THOSE RESULTS TO TELL US?!”

Noel gasped, his vision swimming. He lifted his hands-not to fight back, but to shield his face and fingers. Instinct took over faster than reason. He knew resisting would only make it worse.

Chris didn’t stop.

The next punch slammed into Noel’s shoulder, making him cry out. “That DNA test wasn’t just data, YOU BASTARD!” Chris shouted. “It was about our family! You’re a doctor-how could you not understand the consequences of falsifying something like that?!”

Noel groaned again, his body collapsing to the floor. His knees hit the cold concrete, and for a moment he nearly lost consciousness. His hands trembled as he covered his head, protecting the fingers that were the only tools keeping him alive.

“I-I was just following orders-” Noel stammered.

Bang!

Chris kicked the table aside, then grabbed Noel by the collar, yanking his head up. The doctor’s face was flushed, the corner of his mouth split open, a deep scrape marking his temple. But Chris didn’t care. His eyes burned red with fury, his jaw locked tight.

This wasn’t sudden anger-it was the accumulation of confusion, disbelief, and torment. Nights spent questioning everything. Wondering whether Chase-the brother they loved-could have done something so unforgivable.

When in truth… all of it had been fabricated.

“You made our family doubt each other,” Chris said, his voice shaking. “You dragged my brother’s name through the dirt without once thinking about the people he left behind. We lost countless nights to doubt, to fear-asking ourselves whether the Chase we knew was capable of something that vile.”

His grip tightened.

“And all of that,” he hissed, “because of one falsified sheet of paper.”

Chris kept hitting Noel without pause. He didn’t care about the groans or the apologies spilling from Noel’s

mouth. Even when Noel started coughing up blood, Chris didn’t ease his punches or kicks.

Noel cried silently. Tears mixed with sweat on his face. He didn’t dare look at Chris for too long-he knew the man was far stronger. Every blow felt like a warning that one more mistake could mean he wouldn’t get back up again.

Daven stepped forward. “Enough.”

“I’m not done,” Chris snapped, shooting Daven a sharp look-raw hostility burning in his eyes, his breath ragged with emotion.

Even so, Daven refused to let Chris cross a fatal line. “We still need this man, Chris. Control yourself.”

Chris didn’t release Noel right away. Instead, he grabbed Noel’s face hard, forcing him to look up. “You know what pisses me off the most?” he said in a low voice. “You did all this while still wearing that white coat. A symbol of trust.”

At last, Chris shoved Noel back to the floor and took a step away. Noel coughed violently, his body curling in on itself, both hands still shielding his fingers—afraid not just of the pain, but of what might still happen.
