“Young Master Josh, should we go back home or to Miss Eli’s dorm?” Hans asked, sounding rather concerned.
His gaze had shifted several times to Eli, who was asleep in the back seat. During the time he had driven the Miller family around, he had often seen Eli in various situations, but he had never once seen the girl lose control like this tonight.
“I have never seen Miss Eli like this before. Is it possible that someone at the bar deliberately made her this drunk?”
Josh, who was sitting beside Eli, glanced at her. “At least I didn’t arrive too late.”
Hans smiled faintly, acknowledging Josh’s words.
Josh still held onto the frustration that had not faded since he saw Eli’s condition. He did not know what had happened after Eli left him in the garden area near the Raven University multipurpose building, but seeing Eli in this state filled his mind with all kinds of possibilities.
“Just go home,” he finally answered. “Let’s take her home.”
“Yes, Young Master.”
The car then left the bar area not far from Raven University. Josh looked at Eli, who was leaning weakly against the seat. The girl’s hair was slightly disheveled, her face was still flushed from the alcohol, and occasionally her lips moved as though she were saying something in her sleep.
Josh let out a long sigh. He still clearly remembered their last conversation before Eli had completely lost consciousness.
He’s the basketball team captain.
He’s very handsome.
Josh scoffed softly. “What’s so handsome about him?” he muttered in annoyance.
Eli stirred and settled comfortably against Josh’s shoulder. The young man glanced at her again. “How could you possibly like a rude man like that?”
There was no answer. Of course. Eli was already fast asleep, whether from the effects of the alcohol or exhaustion, Josh did not know. “Your boyfriend has terrible taste.”
Eli remained silent.
Josh rubbed his own face. He knew Eli could not possibly hear him, but he still felt the need to say it. Ever since he first met her and they began growing closer, the girl had always had good judgment about many things. She could even understand things that others could not simply by looking at them a few times.
But when it came to David, it was as though all her logic disappeared.
“You really are stupid for a man like him.” Josh then fell silent. His gaze returned to Eli’s sleeping face.
Her irritation slowly turned into concern.
She did not know whether Eli was happy with the relationship. She also did not know what had actually happened between them. However, from the way David had treated Eli earlier, Josh already felt that something was not right.
Unfortunately, now was not the time to look for answers. Eli slept throughout the journey and completely ignored all of Josh’s complaints. And Josh’s return this time with Eli, who was drunk, would certainly draw his parents’ attention. Josh had to think of the right excuse to protect Eli.
