Escaping the Psycho's Grasp novel Chapter 9

I started following them.

Well, not really following them.

I made sure they saw me.

For example, in the morning, while the mom was eating breakfast. She'd just filled her bowl with porridge when I hocked a loogie right into it.

She turned around and saw me, and her face was priceless.

First, it was fury, then shock, then pure terror. She glanced around, probably figuring that with so many people around, I wouldn't dare to do anything to her.

She puffed up her chest and started cursing me out.

"You psycho! Why did you spit in my food?!"

It was a good suggestion. So I spat again.

This time, I aimed for her face.

She shrieked, grabbed her chopsticks, and lunged at me.

I was thrilled. I'd done my research. If she attacked first, it would be considered mutual combat. Even if I killed her, I probably wouldn't get the death penalty.

I waited eagerly for her attack, my hand gripping the switchblade in my pocket.

But she chickened out. She dropped the chopsticks and ran away.

What a letdown.

I thought it was cool.

But the other kids were horrified.

They said I looked like a butcher, covered in blood.

I was happy they understood me. My dream was to be a serial killer.

But after that, they wouldn't play with me anymore.

So I played with cats and dogs instead.

And then I killed them.
