Escaping the Psycho's Grasp novel Chapter 10

I never understood normal people. I never fit in.

I'd been alone for a long time.

This kid was messed up, though. Maybe he was like me.

So I tried to make friends with him.

I'd leave frogs and centipedes in his desk drawer.

I hoped he liked them.

I think he did.

He cried every time he saw them. Tears of joy, I assumed.

I was so happy, I snuck a few snakes into his backpack.

He opened it up and saw a writhing mass of adorable little snakes, their tongues flicking out at him.

He didn't just cry, he peed his pants.

He rolled his eyes and fainted.

The teacher called an ambulance, but the paramedics were too scared to go near the snakes.

I followed him to and from work every day, taking pictures and leaving them on his desk, in the bathroom, anywhere he might see them.

For example, when he came back from a bathroom break, and his boss was holding a picture of him playing mobile games on company time.

Or when he finished a meeting, and photos of him browsing inappropriate websites were circulating the office.

Or when I posted evidence of him keying cars at the entrance of the complex.

The car owners showed up at his door, demanding compensation.

Within three days, he went insane, quit his job, and holed up at home.
