Gerard fell silent. Both of them fell silent, with one focusing on staying relaxed while the other kept an eye on the road.
Dominic was the only one attending the lunch meeting today, so Gerard was just acting as the driver. He invited Vespera along after noticing Nancy bothering her as they were leaving, so he decided to bring her too.
The car pulled up to a courtyard with a Jitanese design. From the outside, you could faintly glimpse the dry landscape garden within.
"You two find a spot to wait," Dominic instructed as he exited the vehicle. Vespera and Gerard each acknowledged their words.
Upon entering, Dominic was politely escorted by a middle-aged man who welcomed him, while Vespera and Gerard were led by another woman in a professional suit to a different area.
In the large tatami room, Vespera and Gerard took their seats. After a short wait, an extravagant meal was presented to them.
Once the woman smiled and stepped away, Vespera spoke quietly, "There's no dinner appointment listed for today. That means someone must have set it up directly with Mr. Reid. Do you know who it is?"
"No idea," Gerard replied, shaking his head.
"Why is it that you're always in the dark?"
"You could ask about it later."
"I don't ask questions that aren't my business."
Vespera wouldn't receive any special treatment at work due to her personal ties. Despite her past marriage to Luke, she had managed company matters strictly based on professional guidelines. Blurring that line would have led to chaos.
Therefore, Dominic's message to her had been clear. He would share information she was allowed to know, and if he didn't bring it up, it meant it was off-limits, and she wouldn't probe further.
Gerard let out a few chuckles, having a bit of insight into why Vespera was always well-liked. She possessed qualities that put people at ease. She wasn't pretentious or fake, and she knew how to maintain a balanced demeanor without being irritating.
"While I don't know who the individual is, I do know Mr. Reid is in touch with a chamber of commerce."
"A chamber of commerce?"
"Yes. I'm not sure exactly which one yet. I just overheard him talking on the phone in the car. He should inform us about it later."
