In the corridor, Raymond emerged from another room and walked over. He asked while giving a hint with his gaze, "Mr. Reid, are you hungry? I can whip up a late-night snack."
Dominic headed back into the living area.
"Mr. Reid, I really think Ms. Gildon has her heart set on the Reid family," said Raymond, appearing with a bowl of chicken noodle soup.
Dominic asked, "What makes you say that?"
"She acted like she was only worried about Mr. Harry, but she's clearly using that as an excuse to understand more about the family. That tells me she's serious about considering a future here. But ever since Mrs. Reid made her stance clear, and with the whole situation involving Ms. Acosta, she's been trying not to look too eager."
Dominic frowned, looking skeptical. He said, "She isn't the type to play those kinds of games."
Raymond chuckled and replied, "Mr. Reid, women's hearts are a maze."
Raymond's words made Dominic think about what Vespera said earlier. Dominic asked, "So, what you're saying is that even though she said no, she actually wants to say yes? How should I convince her then?"
"If you already know how she feels, there's no need to force it. Just invite your parents to meet at a restaurant and bring Ms. Gildon along. This way, she'll end up meeting them," suggested Raymond.
Dominic said nothing, but his gaze sharpened as he considered the suggestion. He tapped his fingers on the table with a stable and slow rhythm.
Meanwhile, Vespera, unaware that her words had just been wildly misinterpreted, was thinking about the chilling possibility that someone out there was following her.
Should she tell Dominic the truth? She was in a dilemma, picking between her safety and meeting Fawn, but her safety seemed to be more important.
…
Once again, Vespera barely slept. But since she stayed in the penthouse, it calmed her nerves a little. As the morning sunlight shone, she washed up and got dressed before stepping out of the room.
When Vespera arrived at the dining area, she realized that Gerard and Calvert were around. They were playing with Snowball while Raymond was setting out breakfast.
Vespera greeted them. At this point, she was thick-skinned enough not to feel awkward anymore. She asked, "Is Mr. Reid not up yet?"
