"I guess," Vespera replied vaguely.
"…So, is it just you and him going?" Wanda asked.
"Of course not, there will be others too," Vespera replied calmly.
"Do you really have to go?"
"I'm his secretary, so it's part of my job."
"Vera…" Wanda hesitated before speaking her mind. "Maybe you should think about switching jobs. You spend so much time with him, and given the situation… Something's bound to happen sooner or later."
"It already has," Vespera thought to herself.
However, she knew that Vernon and Wanda were both conservative and principled.
If she admitted that she had slept with Dominic, Wanda would likely turn bright red and begin questioning where she had failed in raising her.
"Nothing will happen. I... I know my limits."
The words felt hollow, and a wave of guilt washed over Vespera.
She quickly finished her breakfast and rushed to her room to change.
Wanda sighed.
How could these two ever stay apart…
Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Wanda groaned inwardly—she really didn't feel like getting up to answer it.
It was probably Helen again, asking about the time for their appointment. But Vespera was clearly still reluctant to tear herself away from Dominic.
He was just too handsome; what woman could resist him?
The doorbell rang for a while, but when no one responded, the person outside eventually left.
Vespera changed into her work clothes and stepped out.
"Mom, I think someone rang the doorbell just now. Why didn't you answer it?"
"It was probably a salesperson. There was one here yesterday afternoon as well, so I just decided to ignore it."
"I see..."
Vespera didn't push the matter any further.
She opened the door and stepped outside.
The moment she did, she spotted a middle-aged man in a light blue shirt, exuding an air of elegance.
"Mr. Locke?"
Had he really come all the way to her house?
Vespera couldn't help but recall what Wanda had said before... Oh no, could it be that they really... had something in their younger years?
