Hearing Juniper Payne's words, Coralie Quill wavered.
Especially after seeing little Arthur Sherwin today.
He was raised so well—chubby, healthy, and smiling at whoever played with him.
He was so incredibly lovable.
If her baby could be born, he or she would definitely be just as cute.
The thought of erasing this child from the world completely made Coralie's heart ache fiercely.
"Coralie, you have to look forward."
Seeing Coralie's hesitation, Juniper gently touched her cheek, her tone softening considerably. "I believe that if he's watching from above, he would want you to be happy."
Coralie stared at Juniper, her eyes gradually growing red as tears slipped down her cheeks.
She understood the logic, but actually doing it was so unbelievably hard.
"It's okay."
Juniper pulled Coralie into a hug, gently patting her back as she comforted her softly. "If you can't do it now, you might just need a little more time. No matter what happens, I will be right here with you, and so will the rest of the family."
"Juniper—"
Coralie rested her forehead against her sister's shoulder, finally letting the tears fall freely.
Ever since she found out she was pregnant, the pressure had built up so much she felt like she was going to explode.
"As for whether or not to keep the baby, I will fully respect whatever decision you make."
Juniper's throat felt a bit dry, her own eyes stinging. "Coralie, all I want is for you to be healthy and happy."
Whatever choice would make her happy, Juniper would support it without condition.
What she was afraid of was—
That Coralie would trap herself in the past, completely miss out on her present, and only end up hurting herself more.
She needed someone to pull her out of the shadows of her trauma.
From the looks of it, Channing Irving was the perfect person for the job.
Whether he could actually earn a permanent place in Coralie's heart was entirely up to his own abilities.
"Get some rest. I'll keep this a secret for you."
Leaving those words behind, Juniper opened the door and left.
The room fell into a heavy silence.
Coralie sat on the sofa, feeling completely lost. She rested her palm against her stomach.
It felt a little more pronounced than it had the past two months.
She had gone in for an ultrasound the day before yesterday, and she could already make out the baby's shape.
