"Hello, Juniper."
Coralie Quill's heart skipped a beat as she stood up, instinctively adjusting her clothes to hide her stomach.
"Coralie."
Juniper Payne let go of Shanley Schwartz's hand and walked over to her side.
"You're on break now, right? Have your studies been a bit less stressful?" Coralie asked softly, looking at her with gentle eyes.
"It's fine."
Juniper sat down next to Coralie, a casual smile on her face. "Any of the hard work is being handled by Shanley anyway."
Shanley was the one doing all the lab work and writing the papers.
Shanley put down Juniper's bag, rolled up his sleeves, and went over to help Jimmie Tate prepare the fruit platter.
"You've got him well-trained." Coralie smiled, reaching out with her fork to grab a grape from the platter and popping it into her mouth.
So sour.
It tasted amazing.
"Wait, that variety is incredibly sour." Celine Sherwin tried to stop her, but it was too late.
Because Celine craved sour things recently, Warren Sherwin had specially prepared those grapes just for her.
Coralie...
She remembered Coralie avoiding anything sour like the plague.
But to her surprise.
After eating such an intensely sour grape, Coralie didn't show any reaction at all.
"Coralie, you didn't find that sour?" Celine's bright eyes widened as she asked curiously. "Those are incredibly tart."
"Hmm?"
Coralie paused mid-chew, the guilt slowly creeping up her spine.
Both Juniper and Luella Langley turned to look at her—one with a sharp, calculating gaze, the other with pure curiosity.
"Oh my god, it's so sour!"
Feeling her scalp tingle under their stares, Coralie exaggerated her reaction, spitting the grape into a tissue. "My whole face just cramped up. I definitely prefer sweet things."
As she spoke, she quickly grabbed a slice of sweet watermelon nearby.
To prove how much she loved sweet things, she scarfed down several bites in a row.
She ate so fast that she choked and started coughing uncontrollably.
Her eyes watered from coughing so hard.
"What's wrong with you today? Eat slower."
Luella rushed over to pat her back, laughing. "Your reaction time is seriously lagging today."
"Drink some water."
Juniper handed the glass of warm water beside her to Coralie.
"Thanks, Juniper." Coralie gave an awkward smile, cupping the glass and gulping the water down.
