Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1915

"You're back."

Theia replied, her gaze landing on the tall, broad-shouldered, incredibly handsome man standing beside her daughter. He had an undeniable presence about him. She frowned slightly, "This young man looks a bit familiar."

"Hello, Mr. Blackwood, Mrs. Blackwood."

Channing Irving turned around, bowing slightly, and answered respectfully, "I'm Ms. Quill's bodyguard, Channing Irving."

A bodyguard?

Theia froze for a few seconds before the memory clicked.

He was the guy she had seen forcefully kissing Coralie downstairs a while back. He'd gotten slapped for it, yet had walked away smiling like an idiot.

He still hadn't been fired?

A real bodyguard?

He was quite a handsome young man, to be fair.

"Hello, hello." Theia observed Channing. He was clean-cut and sharp-looking.

She had heard that for the past three years, he was the only bodyguard Coralie kept around.

He must have taken exceptionally good care of her.

"So you're Coralie's bodyguard," Theia said with a warm smile. "Thank you for taking care of this girl all these years."

"She has quite the temper, you must have put up with a lot, right?"

"I do not have a bad temper!"

Coralie crossed her arms, furrowing her brows as she demanded, "Channing, tell them. Have I ever bullied you?"

"Hmm?"

Channing looked at Coralie, a faint smile touching his lips as he shook his head. "The Boss treats me very well. She hasn't put me through anything."

No?

Theia had seen Coralie slap him with her own eyes.

She had heard her yelling at him over the phone, too.

Could it be... foreplay?

"Well, that's good."

Theia shot her daughter a meaningful look and said softly, "If she ever does bully you, you can come tell me."

"Whose daughter am I anyway?" Coralie pouted, her hair practically standing on end in frustration.

And another thing...

Wasn't this their first time meeting?
