Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1242

"So dizzy."

Juniper leaned over from the passenger seat, draping her arms around Shanley's neck.

Her hazy eyes stared at the man, her slightly erratic breath carrying the rich scent of alcohol.

At this distance, with that look in her eyes...

Shanley's gaze grew heated. His Adam's apple bobbed, and he slammed on the brakes.

"Sit properly, and you won't be dizzy."

Shanley gripped the steering wheel with his left hand, and with his right, gently pushed the clinging girl back into her seat, coaxing her softly, "We'll be home in just a minute."

He knew she had a low tolerance for alcohol.

But he never expected that a few sips would go to her head like this.

...

The light turned green.

Shanley hit the gas, speeding towards home.

Fifteen minutes later.

Shanley leaned in, scooped Juniper into his arms, and strode toward the penthouse elevator.

"Sit here and don't move. I'll run the bath for you."

Shanley set her down on a chair in the bathroom, turned on the faucet, and went to grab a change of clothes.

The moment he turned his back, a loud *splash* echoed from behind.

"Juniper—"

Shanley spun around, only to see Juniper, who had just been on the chair, now flailing in the bathtub.

The water had just started running, and it was still freezing cold.

Juniper was still wearing her bespoke silk dress, and the icy shock jolted her awake.

"Are you okay?"

Shanley fished her out, wrapped her in a towel, and carried her back to the bed.

He quickly grabbed a hairdryer to dry her hair.

"How did you fall into the water?"

"I was taking my clothes off," Juniper mumbled, significantly more sober though her head still spun. She leaned against his chest. "I tilted my head and just tumbled in."

"From now on, no alcohol unless I'm with you," Shanley said, his tone dripping with indulgence.

The clasps were embroidered with gold thread, intricately crafted with a textured pattern. Such delicate fasteners usually required someone else's help.

It took a massive effort to finally undo the first one.

The girl's beautiful neck and flawless collarbones were suddenly exposed to his view.

Shanley unconsciously swallowed, continuing to unfasten the rest.

Before long, sweat beaded on his forehead, rolling down his temples. His breathing grew uneven.

"There."

Certain the dress could be removed, Shanley stood up. "I'll go get you that water."

"Do you absolutely have to get that water right now?" Juniper stood up as well, shuffling right in front of him, standing dangerously close. "On such a special night, don't you want to do something else?"

Shanley lifted his gaze, his deep eyes quietly locking onto the girl.

Do?

Something else?

Shanley's nerves were taut, terrified he was overthinking things.

Seeing him look so hesitant, Juniper suddenly grabbed his tie and yanked it down.
