Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1958

“Sure.”

Juniper sat right in the center of the card table, with Shanley taking the seat beside her.

“I’ll need a fruit platter, some desserts, and a glass of mango juice!”

“Right away, ma'am!”

Moments later, the staff brought over exactly what she ordered.

Juniper played as if she genuinely had no idea what she was doing. Losing two out of three hands, she dropped a million in no time.

Shanley coaxed her gently, “Your beginner’s luck wore off. Why don’t we call it a night?”

“No way!”

Juniper popped a piece of fruit into her mouth and shook her head. “I have to win back what I lost!”

The casino staff smirked internally.

Exactly.

It was that exact mindset that kept players emptying their pockets.

“Alright, keep playing then.” Shanley chuckled, patiently shelling pine nuts for her.

—

Meanwhile.

In an office not too far away, Rocco sat in front of a massive wall of monitors. Swirling a glass of red wine, he lazily observed the feed from the VIP card room.

“They’ve already lost almost everything they won earlier.”

His subordinate reported respectfully, “The lady clearly has no idea how to play. She’s just throwing money at the table.”

“If she keeps losing, the game won't last long.”

Rocco smiled faintly and gave his order, “Let her win a few hands. Don't scare them off.”

Still...

Who was this high roller? How come he had never seen them in Caelus before?

—

Half an hour later.

Juniper was slowly losing interest and patience. She turned to Shanley, “This is so boring, honey. Can we raise the stakes?”

“Sure.”

Shanley nonchalantly pushed the massive pile of chips sitting in front of him straight into the center. “This round, I bet my wife gets the high card.”

The dealer eyed the chips. It looked to be around ten million.

Even at Sunrise Casino, that made them major VIPs.

The cards were revealed.

This round, the dealer won.
