Originally, Calista hadn’t planned on coming to the cafeteria. After all, the place had been completely deserted at this time yesterday.
But remembering Alexander’s instructions, she decided to stop by anyway and was surprised by

Calista hesitated. The voice sounded vaguely familiar, though she couldn’t quite place it.
She glanced at the time. It was still half an hour before work officially resumed. With a quiet sigh, she decided to head downstairs.
Waiting outside was none other than Evan.
He was no longer in hospital clothes. Instead, he wore a sharp, perfectly tailored suit that gave him the poised elegance that came from old money.
“Mr. Vaughn?” Calista asked, her tone uncertain.
After all, aside from that awkward encounter at the hospital, they’d had no other interactions. There didn’t seem to be any reason for a private meeting.
“Mrs. Fenwick, please have a seat,” Evan said with a courteous smile as he rose to his feet, a clear gesture of respect.
