Chapter 67
Evan took the elevator to the third floor. It didn’t take him long to find Ophelia sitting in the ward,
seemingly in a daze.
“Are you alone, Ms. Marchand?” he asked softly. Without waiting for her reply, he walked straight
in and even shut the door behind him.
“What are you doing here?” By the time Ophelia snapped back into her senses, Evan had already stopped right in front of her.
The event from a few days ago was still fresh in her mind.
Ophelia didn’t dare to let her guard down. She clutched her blanket tightly, as if it were the only thing she could use to protect herself.
Evan glanced at her and immediately noticed her resistance. He did fancy Ophelia, but not to the point where he would force himself on her.
Besides, he was a proud man. Any woman he set his eyes on would surely end up as his.
“I heard that you were hospitalized, so I thought I’d drop by. I hope my thoughtless actions that
day didn’t cause you any trouble.”
Evan didn’t try to close their distance, Instead, he kept a respectful distance from Ophelia.
It was a clever move. At least, she wouldn’t be so guarded next time.
“What do you mean?” Ophelia couldn’t stand anyone speaking ill of Lucien. Just moments ago, her tone had been gentle and polite. But now, her expression had darkened with displeasure.
