Calista knew that Galen didn’t see eye to eye with her. And the reason for that was Ophelia.
“Galen, if you want to be Lucien’s lapdog, that’s your choice. But you have no i
her arm with Rebecca’s as she started walking out.
But Galen stood firmly in place, refusing to budge no matter what she said. to meddle in my business,”
Calista said, looping
Calista lifted her head and met his cold gaze. The frustration and resentment she had been holding in finally erupted.
“Why are you looking at me like that? Do you think I’m ungrateful for my blessings? Or do you think I’m unworthy of Lucien?”
Calista stepped closer to him. Galen had never seen Calista like this before, so he instinctively took a step back.
Calista looked at him coldly, her tone turning harsher.
“Galen, you have no right to judge me, just like how you have no right to stand by Ophelia’s side. Do you really think that by helping her spy on me and plot against me, she’ll look at you differently? What a joke!”
Calista had quite an easygoing temperament, though much of it had been worn down by the arrogance of upper–class families.
However, that didn’t mean she wouldn’t fight back–especially against people like Galen, who had no relation to her yet still insisted
making her life difficult. She had no reason to put up with it.
Her words struck a nerve. Galen tried to speak, yet nothing came out of his mouth.
She had really hit him where it hurt, leaving him no choice but to watch helplessly as Calista walked away with Rebecca.
In the elevator, Rebecca clutched Calista’s hand tightly as they descended.
