Burn Me Once, Burn With Me novel Chapter 507

Pearl spoke up suddenly, catching everyone off guard.

Her question left the group momentarily speechless. Although countless possibilities had flashed through Ruby’s mind on the drive over, none of them seemed certain, and she couldn’t help feeling a bit lost.

“And you are…?” she asked politely.

“You don’t even know who we are, so why have you been so thoughtful with us?” the old woman replied, her eyes twinkling with gentle humor. There was nothing sharp about her words—just a clear note of playful teasing.

“Because the three of you carry yourselves with such grace. And besides, you came here with my friend,” Ruby answered honestly.

Her sincerity seemed to please the trio even more.

But Pearl, ever perceptive, caught onto one particular word—friend. She cast a sly glance at Sylas. Sure enough, she saw him run a hand through his hair, looking a little crestfallen and out of sorts.

“Oh?” Pearl drew out the word with a knowing smile. “It seems Miss Ruby treats her friends very well.”

She narrowed her eyes and grinned, amused.

Sylas heard the teasing in her tone and couldn’t help but twitch his lips in a half-smile, half-grimace.

Ruby sensed the odd, unspoken tension drifting between them, but chose not to comment. Instead, she simply joined in their laughter, though there was a hint of awkwardness to it.

Fanny suddenly broke the silence, steering the conversation back on course. “Earlier, you mentioned wanting to accompany Rue to the Grayson estate. What did you mean by that?”

The question snapped everyone’s attention back to the matter at hand.

“We were invited to visit the Grayson Group as well,” Pearl explained, her smile undimmed. “Sylas suggested we stop by here first, which is how we ended up witnessing that little scene outside. Since you’re headed to the same place, why not go together? I have a feeling we’ll get along just fine.”

She smiled so warmly that her whole face seemed to glow with kindness.

Ruby had never been one to believe in fate, but something about these three felt oddly familiar, as if she’d always known them.

Then, without warning, the old woman stood up, took Ruby’s wrist, and pressed a jade bracelet into her hand—a piece so translucent and exquisite that its value was obvious at first glance.

Ruby stared in surprise, instinctively pulling her hand back. “What are you doing?”

Though her hair was silver, the old woman’s grip was strong. She beamed at Ruby, refusing to let go. “Consider this a thank-you for letting us join you,” she said lightly.

Pearl’s eyes flickered with surprise as she recognized the bracelet, but she quickly masked her reaction. If the old woman wanted to give it away, she wouldn’t interfere.

“I can’t accept this, it’s far too valuable,” Ruby protested, trying to hand it back.

Chapter 507 3

Pearl’s lips twitched in barely concealed exasperation, but she managed to keep her expression composed.
