Burn Me Once, Burn With Me novel Chapter 347

Hanley’s face was clouded with anger, his brows knit tight as he watched Ruby’s every move.

“I’ve already made it clear—I’m cutting all ties with the Grayson family. Not only will I refuse to donate blood for Gennifer, I’ll also hold you accountable for kidnapping me and trying to force my hand.”

Ruby’s tone was icy, her words hanging over the operating room like a sudden winter storm—cold, heavy, and unyielding.

“You! You—!”

Hanley was so furious his eyes rolled back, clutching at his chest as if he might faint.

Frieda cried out in alarm, rushing to steady him with exaggerated concern, though her eyes kept darting furtively toward Ruby.

But Ruby didn’t even spare her a glance.

She walked straight toward the door, where a cluster of doctors, nurses, and Elin stood blocking her way, hesitating.

“If you don’t move, I’ll have you all charged as accomplices.”

She flashed a sharp, chilling smile—white teeth bared in a way that made the threat feel all too real.

The medical staff scattered instantly, scurrying aside in fear.

Elin, still trying to be brave, stubbornly blocked the door. “Ru—”

Before she could finish, Ruby shoved her aside without hesitation.

Sylas kept close behind, eyes gleaming with admiration at Ruby’s boldness and strength.

Garrison noticed the delighted spark in Sylas’s expression and, for reasons he couldn’t explain, felt a surge of annoyance. Usually so aloof, he found himself following after them, unable to resist.

Hanley, still reeling, hadn’t expected Ruby to actually leave. His eyes burned red with rage as he slammed his hand on the surgical table. “Ruby, if you walk out that door today, I’ll make a public statement disowning you once and for all! You’ll never be a Grayson again, and you won’t see a cent of what the old woman left you!”

He was only half-aware of the changes in Ruby, but he knew one thing hadn’t changed—her feelings about that late old lady. So he played his final card.

Just as he’d hoped, Ruby stopped in her tracks.

Hanley thought he had her right where he wanted, but before he could let relief show, Ruby just waved him off. “Do as you like.”

“Oh, and one more thing.”

She turned, meeting his gaze.

“Now that we’re finished, if you ever insult my grandmother again and I end up hitting you, don’t blame me for not respecting family ties.”

“As for what she left me—I’ll come for it myself.”

“Even if I have to take it by force.”

Her words still echoed in the air as Ruby pushed open the operating room doors and strode out, her fearless exit a slap in the face to everyone left behind.

Hanley’s face turned ashen as he made to follow, but a tall figure stepped in his way. “Mr. Hanley, Bennett will be here soon. I’ve had him contact every hospital in Quinborough to check their blood banks. Gennifer can be tested at each one.”

Cassian simply nodded, his presence here suddenly feeling pointless.

Gennifer stared after him in shock, her mouth parted in disbelief.

“Cassian, didn’t you come to see me? Why are you leaving already…?”

She reached out, tugging gently at his sleeve.

The expensive cashmere felt warm in her hand, but the man before her might as well have been made of ice.

“I have work.”

He said it curtly, not even glancing back.

As Cassian walked away without a word, Gennifer clenched her teeth so hard she nearly drew blood.

She scanned the room, searching for something to smash, but catching sight of Hanley’s stern face, she swallowed her rage.

“Dad…”

Her eyes filled with tears as she whimpered like a wounded kitten.

Hanley’s anger melted in an instant. He rushed to her side, worry etched on his face. “What is it, sweetie? Are you feeling unwell? It’s all Ruby’s fault—my mistake for not raising her right. How did I end up with such a cold, selfish daughter?”
