Chapter 835 Red Dress 

Freya’s POV: 

As soon as I stepped inside, I saw Celine’s father, Gavin Walton, standing on the steps, giving a speech. 

‘… I’m a simple man. I’m not good with fancy words. My only wish is for my precious daughter, Celine, to be happy all her life. It’s just a shame she still hasn’t found her destined mate. 

“I know a lot of guests here today are single and unmarried. Let me remind you, my daughter is in high demand! If you want to be my son–in–law, you’d better seize the chance today and make a good impression in front of her! 

“Hahaha … Gavin let out a hearty laugh as he spoke. 

Down below, Celine looked shy and embarrassed. One of the guests called out loudly, “Mr. Walton just can’t wait to have grandkids, huh? Hahaha—” 

The whole room burst into laughter, and the atmosphere instantly became lively. 

Just then, Gavin suddenly lifted his eyes and looked straight at me. His smile froze on his face. 

“Mr. Walton, we’re just joking, don’t be so serious,” someone teased. 

Something’s wrong! 

I realized right away that something was off with him! 

The next second, Gavin’s face started turning darker and darker. 

Everyone followed his gaze and looked over at me. 

I stood there, innocent and confused. 

I had no idea what was happening. Why did Gavin glare at me with such hatred the moment I walked in? 

The guests around me stared in shock. 

I vaguely sensed something was wrong. After a moment, I finally remembered–Celine had told me once that Gavin hated the color red! 

Because Gavin’s wife had been wearing a red dress he bought her, when she was murdered by vicious criminal lone wolves in the woods during a secret meeting with another man! 

I’d been so busy dealing with the police these days, and the dress was a gift from Celine, so I’d completely forgotten about this! 

At that moment, my heart nearly stopped. 

The guests started hurling accusations and mocking comments at me. 

“Someone actually dared to wear red to the Waltons‘ place. That’s real guts!” 

“Who is she? Isn’t this just slapping the Waltons in the face? What kind of grudge does she have?” 

“Everybody knows, when Mrs. Walton died, gossip magazines were flooded with stories about the red dress. Mr. Walton didn’t show his face for months!”
