A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 195

Melody's face paled, and no words came out. The hand that she had tucked back into her sleeve clenched tightly, and it was clear that she was on edge.

Jeremy's comments truly didn't sound nice.

However, his phone started ringing at the next second.

He'd merely glanced at the screen before handing it to Melody.

"Answer it," he frostily said while also pressing the "answer" button.

Ophelia's voice was emotionless as she asked, "Have you found Mel?"

Melody's lashes trembled. "It's me, Ophelia."

Ophelia instantly let out a sigh of relief. "I called you earlier, Mel. Why was your phone turned off?"

"It fell to the ground and stopped working," Melody truthfully answered.

"I've already told Jeremy this—you two should come home for dinner tonight. I have something to discuss with you. I also had the housekeeper make your favorite dishes. Oh, and I also bought you some clothes, so come home early and try them on."

Ophelia had always been very kind and gentle with Melody. She practically treated her as if she were her own daughter.

That gentleness, though, was never directed at Jeremy.

Melody didn't get a chance to answer before Ophelia hung up the phone.

Then, Jeremy said, "Let's go." He didn't wait for Melody before he turned and left.

Ophelia herself had called, so Melody had no choice but to go.

"But this is good. You have a mellow personality, so it'll be good if Jeremy frustrates you so much that you let out your buried temper. When the time comes, I'll set you up with my nephew. He's much more reliable than Jeremy," she said as she looked at Melody affectionately.

Ophelia had met all three daughters of the Wardolfs', and her favorite had always been Melody. There was such a docile and considerate quality about her that made one's heart ache.

It was just too bad that she liked Jeremy of all people.

Ophelia had asked them home that night to discuss their island vacation, and in the end, they decided to leave the following Wednesday where Jeremy could get a week off.

It was easy for Melody to take time off too. She had been busy keeping up with Jeremy this whole time, so she had barely taken any time off since she'd started working.

When Tiffany found out that she was going on a holiday, she was very envious. "Bring me along with you! I'm so done with this job!"
