A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 194

That would only make her seem just as foolish, and thus, Krystal walked off without another word.

Tiffany's frustration was through the roof, and she was on the verge of swearing at her. "What on earth is she so smug about?"

After that, Krystal went straight to their doctor's office and found that Jeremy had returned too.

Her tone was icy as she said, "Sorry for being the bad guy that got in between you two again."

Jeremy raised his eyes to look at her, but she had already turned and walked away.

Caleb—who was still in the office—curiously asked. "What happened this time, Jeremy?"

Jeremy's expression didn't falter, nor did he say anything. He had just completed a ten-hour surgery, so it was natural that he was exhausted.

Just then, his phone suddenly rang.

Surprisingly, it was a call from Ophelia.

Though they were mother and son, there was a clear distance between them.

"Done with the surgery?" Ophelia nonchalantly asked.

"Yes."

"Come home for dinner tonight. And bring Mel with you," she instructed.

Jeremy's eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly. "You can call her yourself."

"Her phone is turned off. Don't forget to come," she replied succinctly before hanging up the phone.

Jeremy fell silent for a second before he gave Melody a call.

Sure enough, her phone was turned off.

His expression darkened, and an uncontrollable sense of frustration crept in.

Melody was just about to remind her to watch what she said when a cold voice sounded beside her, "You're not amazing enough for everyone to be jealous of you. Don't think so highly of yourself."

Melody's heart lurched, and she looked over to see Jeremy.

He was staring at the wound on the back of her hand. It was only a small cut and didn't look bad.

Soon, his gaze shifted away, and his voice remained cold and distant. "You were the one being careless. Don't shift the blame onto Krystal."

Melody instantly realized that Jeremy was responding to Tiffany's comments, but he wasn't directing them to Tiffany—he was saying them to her.

Melody pulled her injured hand back into her sleeve and paused for a second before murmuring, "No one's blaming your Dr. Finnigan. You don't need to jump to her defense so quickly."

The words "your Dr. Finnigan" were clearly emotionally charged.

Jeremy's gaze instantly turned to ice. He stared at Melody's delicate neck, and the fire blazing through him had gotten so wild that it could no longer be suppressed.

He said in a low voice, "Think before you speak. Do I even need to teach you something as basic as that?"
