"Really?" Tears stopped flowing down Monique's face as her long eyelashes blinked.
Mrs. Lawson nodded. "Go get some rest, you still have to work tomorrow. It’ll be bad if your work is affected tomorrow."
This time, Monique heeded Mrs. Lawson’s advice and went to bed.
Monique rolled on her bed, as she felt uneasy. She kept thinking if Henry would let this matter slide. Finally, later into the night, Monique managed to fall asleep.
The next day, Mrs. Lawson woke Monique up for work.
"Monique, Monique, get up, it's almost time to go to work." Mrs. Lawson alarmed.
Mrs. Lawson planned to wake Monique up earlier. However, knowing that she went to bed quite late last night, she thought it would be better to let Monique sleep a little longer. While she was feeding Angel her breakfast, she did not notice the time passing by and it was already very late for Monique.
Monique gradually opened her eyes and woke up from her sleep. She was immediately alert when Mrs. Lawson mentioned that it was getting late for work. It was almost 8am and she needed to send Angel to kindergarten. Monique, herself needed to be at the company by 8.30am. It was a hectic morning for her.
She got herself ready in no time and dashed downstairs. Grabbing two pieces of pretzels, Monique immediately grabbed Angel to head out.
"Monique, why don't you have your breakfast first and let the chauffeur send Angel instead?" Mrs. Lawson asked.
"Nevermind."
"Not necessary."
Both sentences were said at the same timing. One with an immature voice while the other with a clear voice.
Angel and Monique exchanged looks with a smile.
Amelia, who was feeling rather joyful, saw Jacob striding in their direction. That made her feel even more excited. It looked like everything was going according to what she predicted.
Amelia buried her face and looked at the computer, while she gazed at Monique from the corner of her eyes. Her expression was as though something thrilling was about to happen.
Monique dropped her head, feeling guilty as Jacob inched closer and closer.
She only managed to get a tiny bit of the proposal done while she was at work and did the rest of it using Henry's computer. However, it was then destroyed when his computer crashed. She also did not know how to retrieve her lost data. In conclusion, only a small fragment of the proposal was completed.
Furthermore, she was late to work. That was a taboo for any newcomer.
Monique felt even more uneasy as Assistant Manager Walt stepped closer to her.
