Lemira turned her head and saw Orion, a smile gracing her lips.
He was here.
But Asher just sneered. "Lemira, if you're going to call for backup, at least call someone useful. What's the point of bringing a nobody here?"
A man with no power or status was completely useless.
Lemira actually laughed at his words. "It seems Mrs. Waverly didn't tell you the whole story."
"What do you mean?"
Asher shook off Orion's hand and looked around, but Mrs. Waverly was nowhere in sight.
He found it a bit strange.
"It means that your so-called patent application is only for the external design. The internal technology and specifications are completely different."
Orion produced a document. "This is the patent I found. I'm sure the reporters here would be interested in seeing it."
Asher stared at the patent information. He hadn't expected this useless doctor to have some skills, to get his hands on the patent application so quickly.
He laughed it off. "That's because my dear sister Lemira betrayed me, went to your Maple Group, and rushed to register the patent first."
Lemira hadn't expected him to have that excuse ready.
Orion replied calmly, "The phrase 'rushed to register' is quite ridiculous. Are you saying that after Lemira left the Langston family, your company didn't bother to apply for a patent for all this time? And only after Lemira spent months developing a breakthrough and filed her patent did you suddenly decide to file for one that was identical to hers?"
The reporters in the crowd began to whisper among themselves.
Orion continued, "The truth is, you couldn't develop it at all. Otherwise, why wouldn't you have rushed to register the patent first?"
Asher was fuming. He turned to the event organizer. "I think we should have this disruptive individual removed. Nothing he says makes any logical sense."
The organizer immediately called for security, who surrounded Lemira and Orion.
Asher looked at Orion, his voice low. "Just a broke doctor with a sharp tongue. You should have been a lawyer; you might have made more money."
"It seems Mr. Langston likes to measure a person's worth by their power and wealth."
Orion pushed Asher's hand away, his eyes filled with arrogance.
"Let go! I said, let go of me!"
Asher's face was pale with pain as he cursed, "You're in big trouble now, you know that?"
Orion punched Asher in the face, then kicked him, sending him flying.
Asher crashed into an exhibition display and collapsed.
Orion strode forward and stomped on Asher's hand. "Didn't I tell you your hands were filthy and not to point at Lemmy? It seems you have a hearing problem!"
His eyes were a murky storm. With a slight increase in pressure, Asher's arm snapped.
"AHHH!!!"
Asher screamed in agony.
Evelina rushed over. "What are you doing? Let go of my brother!"
Evander shouted furiously, "You broke loser, you're dead! You assaulted him! The Langston family will make sure you rot in prison!"
