Nathaniel narrowed his eyes.

"What's that over there?"

The strain on Nicholas's face wouldn't stay hidden.

"Just some newspapers. I've been stuck here going out of my mind. Don't take them away, okay?"

One look at him, and Nathaniel knew those were no ordinary newspapers.

He yanked Nicholas aside, strode over, and picked the stack up off the floor.

Nathaniel opened it and looked through it.

Page after page, it was packed tight with things about Jocelyn.

Nicholas moved like somebody had just ripped his secret wide open, lunging straight at Nathaniel.

But in the shape he was in now, Nathaniel dodged him without any effort.

"Give it back! That's mine!"

Nathaniel looked at him, his face flat and unreadable.

"Looks like compared to Ceci, the one you really care about is your assistant."

Nicholas's face changed on the spot.

"What kind of joke is that? I don't like her. I don't have any feelings for her at all."

That was pure stubborn denial.

Even Nathaniel could see through it. It was obvious enough that there was no hiding it.

"Fine. Then I'll get you some different newspapers to read instead."

After saying that, Nathaniel turned as if he were about to leave.

The second Nicholas saw it, he rushed to stop him. "Don't... don't..."

"You've probably gone through these things over and over already, and you still want me to leave them here?" Nathaniel asked.

Nicholas knew exactly what he was trying to do, but he still couldn't bear to let him take those things away.

A long while later, he gave a small nod. "Please. Leave them here."

This time, Nathaniel didn't trick him again. He set the stack of materials back down.

But then he said, "What's so hard about admitting you like someone?"

Nicholas picked up the materials and clutched them tight without saying a word.

Seeing him like that, Nathaniel actually gave way to a trace of pity.

"But I also heard she's married now. She has a child, and from what people say, she's very much in love with Yannick."

The only reason Nathaniel remembered it all that clearly was Cecilia.
