When Her Death Couldn't Break Him (Cecilia and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 2278

"How am I supposed to not rush? If this keeps going, more people are going to curse Jon out. What if he sees it? Then what?"

"My son isn't that fragile under pressure. They're just comments, aren't they?" Nathaniel looked unconcerned.

But Cecilia was his mother. She had carried that child for ten months and gone through labor to bring him into the world. Nathaniel had never gone through any of that.

So when it came to the child, she worried more.

"Easy for you to say!"

Cecilia dialed the public relations line at Jamieson Group and told them they had to deal with the video on the internet no matter what.

When you had money, getting things done really was simple. Before long, the video was pushed down.

But the internet had a memory. Just suppressing it like that was naturally useless.

Once a video made it onto the internet, a record of it remained.

After Cecilia told the PR team to deal with the video, she went to Jonathan's bedroom herself.

She knocked on the door. "Jon, are you asleep yet?"

Jonathan hadn't been sleeping at all. But the second he heard Cecilia's voice, he knew what she was worried about, so he lied. "I'm already asleep, Mommy. What is it?"

"Nothing. As long as you're asleep, that's good. Go on and sleep, and no looking at the computer or your phone, okay?"

Cecilia's voice stayed soft.

"Okay."

Only after hearing him answer like that did Cecilia ease up.

Jon had always been a good boy. He listened.

Cecilia's own childhood had never gone well. Because of that, she had always wanted her son to have a happy one.

When she walked back to her room, she saw Nathaniel standing in the doorway, waiting for her.

Cecilia didn't look at him.

As she came up to him, Nathaniel pulled her into his arms. "You're upset?"

"Isn't that a stupid question? Our son is getting torn apart on the internet, and you haven't done a thing. You even told me not to worry. How was I supposed not to be upset?"

He hadn't carried the child or given birth. Of course he wasn't the one losing sleep over it.

"Alright. When did I ever say I'd ignore it?"

She knew that when Nathaniel said he would do something, he usually did it.

"Then can we go to sleep now?" Nathaniel said with a yawn. Sleep was already catching up to him.

Cecilia nodded and lay down with him.

But even after she got into bed, her mind kept circling back to the news. All she could think about was Jon seeing those people cursing him online and what that would do to him.

"Miranda has gone way too far. She actually dared to hurt my son," Cecilia said.

There were things she had let slide before, pretending not to see them. But now, she had no intention of letting it keep going.

"All right, go to sleep. I promise everything will be handled by tomorrow." Nathaniel wrapped an arm around her and said it in that lazy, unhurried way of his.

"But I can't fall asleep," Cecilia said, sounding helpless.

At that, Nathaniel's throat moved once.

"If you can't sleep, then want to do something more interesting?"

The second the words left his mouth, most of Cecilia's face turned red.

"Honestly. You have no shame," she said.
