"I'm not a little kid. Stop treating me like one every time you get the chance, and don't touch my head." Cecilia shot him a look.
Nathaniel acted like she hadn't said a thing. He lifted his hand again and gave her cheek a rub.
"Alright, alright. Got it. Don't be mad."
Cecilia looked at that handsome face of his, and just like that, the edge went out of her.
By the time the car reached Jamieson Group,
Cecilia got out first.
Nathaniel got out right after her too, like there was nothing strange about it.
She turned to him, unable to help herself. "You're going in with me to work at Jamieson Group again today?"
"Yeah." Nathaniel nodded, then added, "Isn't this how it is every day now?"
Cecilia went speechless on the spot.
Ever since they'd come back from Drocver, something had gotten into him. Every single day, he stuck to her side like glue and refused to leave.
"You never go to your own company anymore. Are you really that free?" she asked.
"Everything's done online now. It's fine," Nathaniel said.
That shut Cecilia up again.
The two of them walked into the company one after the other.
Even the employees inside were already used to the sight.
The staff greeted them as soon as they came in. "Ms. Smith. Mr. Rainsworth."
Nathaniel answered with a small smile and a nod. He looked like he was in a very good mood.
Cecilia glanced at him, then finally gave voice to the question that had been sitting with her all this time. "Nathaniel, tell me the truth. You follow me to work every single day now. What's the real reason?"
The old Nathaniel had never stuck to her this tightly.
Nathaniel's steps stalled for a beat, and something strange flashed through his eyes.
Then he smoothed it over and spoke like nothing had happened. "I just want to follow you around every day and stay with you. What, are you sick of me already?"
Cecilia rarely heard Nathaniel talk to her in such a clingy, syrupy way. Her skin prickled on the spot.
"Alright. Can you not talk like that from now on?"
Nathaniel nodded again. "Okay, okay. I'll listen to whatever you say."
Their voices drifted farther and farther away as the two of them walked on.
