"He's willing to live with us if you and Dad agree with it," Chelsea said.
With a serious expression, she added, "Mom, hadn't you and Dad been planning to find a matrilocal son-in-law?"
Phoebe didn't answer her. Her eyes were filled with shock, and it took her some time to return to her senses.
"Chelsea, you two have already registered your marriage, yet he doesn't even have a house?" Phoebe asked in disbelief.
Chelsea's expression was awkward. "His foster parents kept dragging him down, so he hasn't earned much money, nor has he been able to find a good job. He's living in a rented house now."
Phoebe's face darkened. "Look! He doesn't even have a house. If you stay with him, how will you survive?"
"Mom, I can earn money myself. It won't come to that. Besides, I have my own mansion," Chelsea said.
"H-He won't be living with you in your mansion, will he?" Phoebe asked.
Chelsea shook her head. "No, he refuses to live there. He said he wants to work hard and buy a house for us both."
At that, Phoebe felt slightly better. "But he works at a club—how much money can he make? At most, he can only buy a small apartment in Tudela. What will you do when you have children?"
Chelsea was unbothered. "Didn't I say I can earn money myself? Besides, he's only being dragged down by his foster parents now. Once that issue is resolved, he can get a normal job and earn a good income. If push comes to shove, I'll support him and our children."
"Y-You foolish girl! Everything you have now was given to you by your father and me!" Phoebe said in exasperation. "Quickly divorce him while your marriage hasn't been long."
Chelsea hadn't expected Phoebe to still demand that she file for divorce even though she was already married.
"Mom, I won't divorce him," she said seriously.
"Fine, fine." Phoebe truly felt like jumping out of the car. Why did I give birth to such a stubborn child?
