Jocelyn was in disbelief. Nicholas had poor health, and in all the years she had taken care of him, she had never seen him drink alcohol.
Now, judging by the stranger's tone, Nicholas was heavily intoxicated.
But... Jocelyn looked at Yannick, feeling conflicted. I'm already married, and I've also decided to distance myself from Nicholas. I absolutely cannot betray Yannick.
"Um, I'm in the middle of something. If you have time, please take him to the hospital. When he sobers up, he'll thank you properly," she replied politely.
The man said impatiently, "Are you kidding me? You are his friend, and you're not even willing to spare the time to send him to the hospital, and you want me, a stranger, to do it? I have work to do! If you don't come soon, I'll let him be."
With that, he hung up the phone.
Jocelyn's face was filled with anxiety.
When Yannick saw her expression, he couldn't help but ask, "What happened?"
"Nicholas is drunk," Jocelyn answered truthfully.
Yannick frowned, disgust appearing in his eyes. "Why is he calling you when he's drunk?"
"It wasn't him who called. It must have been a staff member at the place where he was drinking. He said Nicholas was terribly drunk and asked me to pick him up," Jocelyn explained.
Only then did Yannick's expression ease.
"Let his assistant handle it," he said.
Jocelyn nodded. "Right. I'll call his assistant now."
She had been so anxious earlier that she had forgotten about that option.
Jocelyn made the call, and it took a while for the call to be picked up.
