Chapter 1987 Vengeance Is Served
Once Heather had steadied herself, she asked quizzically, “Jonah, this live-streaming you're talking about, does it mean it's visible to people all around the world?”
“What else could it be? By now, everyone knows you've been bullying and extorting Cecilia for me and James. When the time comes, James will also be targeted by netizens. I've already been boycotted. People are buying things and then returning them. Do you realize how much money I've lost?” Jonah sighed repeatedly. “I was already short on cash, and now, you've just brought forward my bankruptcy!”
Upon hearing Jonah's words, Heather realized the gravity of the situation.
“Well, what are we supposed to do now?”
“What else can we do? You better go plead with Cecilia, ask her to show us mercy!” said Jonah.
“Beg that conwoman? You must be joking! I'm her elder. Even if I made a mistake, she shouldn't hold a grudge against me!”
Heather couldn't swallow her pride. She was adamant in her belief that elders should never apologize.
“In that case, you're going to doom us all!”
Jonah was left speechless by his own mother.
At first, she tricked him and James into giving up her money, which she then handed over to Magnus, that prodigal son. Now, she had dragged them down when she offended Cecilia.
Cecilia was no longer the same person as she was before. She was now the CEO of Jamieson Group.
“Does Mom really think that a few online comments would be enough to bring Cecilia down? I can't believe how naive she is. Jamieson Group can crush James' and mine companies with a snap of its fingers!
“
“How could I ever let something bad happen to you? Don't worry. I'll have a word with Cecilia.”
After Heather finished speaking, she hung up the phone.
She turned back, asking Cecilia to open the door.
Cecilia was seated indoors, having already read the online discourse. All the negative comments about her had disappeared, and now, all the insults were directed at Heather. Even the latter's sons were caught in the crossfire.
Left without any other options, Heather could only resort to causing a ruckus at the doorway.
Even until then, she refused to apologize, repeatedly disparaging Cecilia at the door.
“Cecilia, you really are heartless. How dare you deceive an old woman like me? Will you only be satisfied when I'm dead? Open the door for me now, or I swear I'll die right here on your doorstep today,” Heather threatened.
However, in the biting cold, the only response she received was the sad rustling of leaves in the wind.
Heather had been standing at the door for over half an hour. As she saw the sky darkening, and with not a single soul acknowledging her presence, a sense of unease began to creep in.
Right then, the cold wind howled.
Heather, who was of considerable age, felt her legs starting to give out, shivering relentlessly from the cold.
She naturally didn't really want to die. Seeing that no one paid her any mind and the weather was growing increasingly cold, she had no choice but to hail a taxi and leave.
