When Her Death Couldn't Break Him (Cecilia and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 1971

Chapter 1971 Kneel And Drink
Eric had only just gotten back from Drocver. He'd been wanting to reach out to Cecilia, but couldn't come up with a good enough reason.

Eventually, he found his chance. With a few actors in tow, he headed over to Cecilia's company.

“Ms. Ceci, I thought you'd forgotten all about me,” Eric said, wearing a pitiful look.

Cecilia gave a small sigh, looking a bit exasperated. “Haven't I been busy lately?”

As soon as she said that, she turned to glance at the actors standing nearby. “Are they up to the task?”

“Relax,” Eric said. “All they have to do is act like some high-society woman making things difficult for someone. That's easy.” He paused. “Anyway, I'll be there with them. If they mess up, I can step in and guide them.”

He made it sound like he was mentoring them, but the truth was, Eric just wanted a chance to get closer to Cecilia.

“You're coming with us too?” Cecilia asked.

“What, you don't think I can handle it?” Eric said, lowering his head dramatically. “Sigh... It's been so long, our friendship's gotten cold.”

Cecilia shook her head quickly. “Of course, not. I was just worried you might be too busy.”

“I'm not busy at all,” Eric replied firmly. “Come on, let's get going. And if anything good comes up later, you better keep me in mind.”

With everything he'd said, it was hard for Cecilia to turn him down.

She ended up heading to the place where Magnus had taken refuge, bringing Charlotte and Eric along.

Originally, Magnus had planned to leave the country, but things didn't go his way. He lost all his money. After that, he was beaten badly again. His phone, ID, and everything else got stolen. He was now stuck in a small city, stranded.

That evening, Cecilia arrived right on time at the nightclub where Magnus had found work.

Charlotte had already contacted the manager earlier and reserved a private room. From there, they could observe what was happening in the adjacent room.

The actors took their places and waited for Magnus to show up.

Magnus, who'd been beaten up not long ago, had since healed enough that the manager had someone apply makeup and dress him up, turning him into a decent-looking host.

“Keep your act together today, or don't bother coming back,” the manager warned, worried that Magnus might blow it. Then he added, “Do a good job and you'll be well-compensated.”
