Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 2151

Mavis noticed Evan's gaze lingered on the marks on her neck, and she tried to cover them, feeling slightly embarrassed.

"It's nothing like that. We agreed to meet in court seven days later and finalize the divorce."

It should have been good news, but Evan only frowned.

"Why wait seven days? If he truly wanted to let you go, you could finalize the divorce tomorrow morning. Today, even, before the court closes."

Mavis lowered her gaze, thinking for a moment. "Maybe he's just really busy with work right now. That might be the earliest he can make time for it."

Evan was not convinced. "That's just an excuse. He's the CEO. He could make it happen whenever he wants."

Mavis did not know what to make of Nathaniel's motives, either. However, with the divorce date set, she felt it was best to just roll with it and adjust as needed when the time came.

Pushing the thoughts aside, she turned to walk into her bedroom to retrieve a spare set of apartment keys.

Evan remained standing near the door, lost in his own thoughts.

His head hung slightly as he fiddled with his glasses.

Mavis returned and handed him the keys.

"You can stay in the apartment upstairs for now. Here are the keys. If you need anything, you can come down or just call me."

Evan took the keys, feeling a warmth spread through his chest. "Thank you, Mae. You're always so thoughtful and organized."

Mavis smiled. "Well, I did live in Froania for a few years, and since it's your first time here, it's only right that I look out for you."

She paused, then remembered something important.

"How was the company when you left? Is everything alright?"

Evan sighed, shaking his head. "Those deals didn't go through, but everything else is under control. You don't need to worry."

The deals were progressing well when she was handling them, yet they fell through after she returned to Froania.

There was no way Mavis could simply brush it off.

"Did you bring your laptop?" Mavis asked.

"Yeah, I figured you'd want to check on things, so I brought it along."

Inside the apartment…

"...Why hasn't the project summary report for this quarter been submitted yet? You need to notify the team in charge that tomorrow is their final deadline."

Evan was typing on his laptop, hesitating slightly before saying, "There's a time difference between Vraeyce and here. By now, most of the team is already off work."

"That doesn't matter. The report is overdue, and whether they have to work late or not, they must get it done. Their job is to meet deadlines."

Her professional demeanor was no-nonsense, a quality she had learned from Sheena.

Evan nodded. "Okay, I'll notify them right now."

The room fell into silence again, broken only by the sound of keyboards clicking as they worked.

Evan sat across from Mavis, occasionally stealing glances at her.

He smiled as he recalled their past.

"Mae, do you remember when we first started the business? Our first office was just as small as this. There were only five of us, and I sat right across from you, just like now."
