Mavis shook her head and returned the soccer ball to the boy. "You didn't. Don't worry. Have fun!"
The little boy bowed to Mavis and replied, "Thank you, Miss! I hope you have a great day. I'm going back to playing now!"
As the boy ran off, Mavis felt her mood lift.
'What a polite boy,' she thought.
Feeling better, she stretched out her arms, enjoying the cool breeze on her face and the warmth of the sun.
Suddenly, her stomach growled, reminding her that she had not eaten since last night.
Mavis pulled out her phone and looked for nearby restaurants, and one name caught her eye: Forde.
She had once visited this restaurant with Nathaniel to meet a client and was surprised it was just in the area.
Since she was already here, dining there seemed like a good idea.
Estimating the distance, she decided to ride a shared bike there.
There were not many people at the restaurant when Mavis arrived.
Due to Nathaniel's VIP status and how he was rarely accompanied by female companions, the owner recognized Mavis at a glance.
Seeing her, the owner approached with a smile.
"Ms. Olsen, are you dining alone today? Or waiting for someone?"
"Just me today. You can just attend to the other guests."
Mavis took a menu and chose a seat by the window, staring out in a daze.
Coincidentally, Sheena was also in the restaurant, meeting with a client.
She noticed Mavis as soon as she entered and walked over to Mavis after excusing herself from the client.
"Mae."
Surprised, Mavis looked up.
"Sheena, what are you doing here?"
Sheena smiled and replied, "I'm here to meet a client. How are you? Have you contacted him?"
Sheena poured her a glass of water. "Mae, sometimes you have to take the initiative. Besides, you're his girlfriend, not a stranger. If you decide to go, I can arrange a private jet for you. Think about it. I have to get back to my meeting. Remember, life is short. If you want to see someone, don't hesitate."
With that, Sheena left.
Mavis was tempted.
Gurenchti was far from Froania. It would take over ten hours by plane.
If she suddenly showed up, would Nathaniel be surprised?
Would he be happy?
Thinking about their possible reunion, Mavis felt a rush of nervous excitement.
After finishing her meal, she called Gabrielle.
It was not long before Gabrielle arrived.
Rolling down the car window, Gabrielle smiled and patted the passenger seat.
"Mae, hop in. I'm taking you somewhere fun. My passenger seat is usually reserved, but I'll make an exception for you."
