"Yay!" Cynthia cheered.

As soon as Celestine left, the two children stood in the room, staring at each other.

Raymond's docility demeanor vanished, replaced by a hostile glare directed at Cynthia.

"Don't you have a mom?! Why are you always clinging to my mom! Don't you know how annoying you are?!"

"I do have a mom. That doesn't stop me from liking Celestine, and Celestine likes me, too." Cynthia giggled, covering her mouth. "Little beggar boy, don't tell me your own mommy doesn't like you?"

The taunt was brutally effective.

Raymond's face flushed red with anger. "You have no shame! Stealing someone else's mom!"

Cynthia, not to be outdone, shook her head with a precocious air. "Oh, please. At least I'm not like you, treating an enemy like your mother and looking down on people."

She might be young, but she had a good memory.
