Chapter 201
When he finished, he didn’t leave. Instead, he quickly washed his hands and took out the insulated food container he’d brought earlier.
“It’s six o’clock. Let’s have dinner. Ms. Clark, if you’re hungry, you’re welcome to stay. There’s more than enough food,” Brian said, his tone gentle.
Without waiting for her reply, he efficiently arranged the dishes on the movable table, served Gabriela a slice of bread, and even handed her a fork.
Gabriela accepted the fork, a little stunned.
‘Being waited on by a CEO really does feel different,‘ she thought.
By the time she realized she should thank him, Brian was already picking up a plate, ready to feed Jessica.
Jessica turned her head away, dodging him. “I told you, I can feed myself,” she said.
Before, when Brian insisted on feeding her and they were alone, she couldn’t be bothered to argue and just let him.
But now, with Gabriela watching, Jessica wasn’t having any of it.
Brian frowned and shot a look at Gabriela.
Gabriela immediately shot him an annoyed look in return.
“What are you staring at? Trying to kick me out? Don’t forget whose hospital room this is!” Gabriela snapped.
“No,” Brian said calmly.
He sighed and handed the plate to Gabriela, his expression pleading.
“Ms. Clark, Jessi can’t use her hand and refuses to let me feed her. Could you help out? I’ll pay you 30 thousand for your trouble.”
Gabriela’s eyes widened in shock. “How much did you just say?!”
“Thirty thousand. If that’s not enough, I can add more, or you can name your price,” Brian replied gently.
Gabriela was rendered speechless. She shot him a glare and snatched the plate.
“I don’t want your money! As for Jessi, of course I’ll take care of her. She’s my bestie. When she’s really in trouble, who else can she turn to but me?” she snapped.
She was this close to listing out all their past grievances and giving Brian a proper dose of sarcasm.
Brian clearly caught the undertone, but his expression remained unchanged.
When she took the plate, he stepped aside without a word.
Gabriela held the plate and began feeding Jessica.
Jessica wanted to refuse, but fearing Brian might make an even bigger fuss, she ended up accepting her best friend’s help.
Just as Jessica had taken only a couple of bites, a loud growling sound came from beside the hospital bed.
She looked down and saw Jacob’s face flush bright red.
“You haven’t had dinner yet?” Jessica frowned
Jacob quickly shook his head. “N–no, I already ate, Mom, you don’t have to

But his stomach growled again, even louder.
Gabriela couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Jacob’s face turned even redder. He clenched his little fists and punched his own belly in frustration.

‘Why are you so useless?‘ he scolded himself silently. ‘Of all times to make noise, it had to be when Mom’s eating. Now she probably thinks even less of
me.‘
He looked so dejected that he was on the verge of tears.
Then a chicken drumstick appeared before him. “Here, eat up. I wouldn’t want anyone accusing us of child neglect,” said Gabriela.
