After sending Jacob away, Jessica turned to Gabriela.

“I told you yesterday you didn’t have to come keep me company. What brings you here again, especially after working a full day?” she teased.

“I was just worried you’d go soft on them,” Gabriela replied. “Good thing I showed up. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have realized how Brian and Jacob are good at acting.”

Even after witnessing Brian’s attentiveness and Jacob’s obedient act, Gabriela still thought they were just putting on a show.

Nobody could blame her, though. They’d behaved so terribly before.

Having made such a bad impression, they couldn’t really complain if she viewed them with suspicion now.

“Hey, where’s Brian? Couldn’t keep up the act for long?” Gabriela suddenly asked.

She hadn’t seen him on her way here. “Did he really just run off?” she wondered.

Jessica said, “He mentioned something urgent came up at the company, so he went back for now.”

After all, Brian ran such a large corporation. He couldn’t just walk away from his responsibilities whenever he wanted.

“Aren’t you mad?” Gabriela probed cautiously.

“He’s ditching you for work again.”

Jessica chuckled. “Why would I be mad? Honestly, I can’t wait for him to stop hovering around me.”

Since they were already divorced, Brian wasn’t obliged to stay by her side anymore.

Gabriela was relieved after confirming she wasn’t lying. Just as she was about to change the subject and talk about work, the door to the hospital room

swung open.

“Sorry, traffic was bad. I’m late,” Brian said as he hurried in with a food container, looking like he’d just rushed over.

Right behind him was Jacob, putting on his most obedient expression.

Gabriela rolled her eyes the moment she saw him and scoffed, “Would’ve been better if you didn’t show up.”

Instead of rising to her barbed remarks, Brian responded with perfect courtesy.

“Sorry, am I interrupting? I’ll step out, then,” he said politely.

He swiftly placed the insulated container on the bedside table, checked the IV on Jessica’s hand to make sure it was fine, and then promptly left the room with Jacob.

“Wait, he’s actually-”

Gabriela was completely floored by how he was acting like the perfect househusband.

Jessica rolled her eyes.

“What’s with the surprise? It’s not your first time seeing this,” she said.

He was just as caring as yesterday.

“I never thought he’d actually be this patient. Feels like you two have totally switched roles now,” Gabriela murmured.

Before the divorce, Jessica had been playing the perfect wife, always accommodating and caring for Brian and Jacob..

Now that they’re divorced, these two were all obedient and attentive, looking after Jessica instead.

Gotta admit, it was kinda satisfying to see.

Jessica shook her head. “Who knows what’s going on in their heads? It’s not like I ever told them to do any of this.”

“Whatever, not our problem.” Gabriela shrugged.

Realizing it made sense, she let it go, pulled out her phone, and started talking work with Jessica.

The two hit it off so well they lost track of time, until a knock at the door broke their flow.
