The World of Beasts: She's Got Their Hearts novel Chapter 25

"So, you don't have to go out of your way to pick a birthday gift for her," said Scott with a smile so gentle that it could make a person relax.

Analise grinned. "Okay. What are we having for dinner? Do we have any groceries? Why don't I cook?"

She thought it had been a fruitful day. Early that morning, she had calmed a male and went out for a meal when she was mentally exhausted.

After that, she went to Finlay's house to pick up something, only to return and face accusations of being a spy. Finally, she was sent to the dungeons.

In less than two hours, Analise's name was cleared. When everything was settled, she even got to explore Hopkins Galaxy Lodge. She had gotten enough rest since she returned to the villa.

It was similar to the busy and fulfilling feeling Analise felt in the human world. Hence, she instinctively wanted to prepare a meal before the sun set. That way, she would feel as though she was still in the human world.

"Females in Interstellar Alliance don't need to cook. You can just ask Finlay to prepare whatever you want to eat. As your guardians, we need to take good care of you," said Scott before Finlay could nod his head.

Finlay was a complete fool who would agree to whatever Analise said. But if news of Analise preparing a meal spread, both Scott and Finlay would be in trouble.

"Why Finlay? Can't you cook?" asked Analise out of curiosity.

"It's not that I can't. It's just—"

Before Scott could finish, Analise said, "I'll leave it to you, then. I want to touch Finlay's therian ears."

The pan was black, the bowls were broken, and the walls were covered in black, grimy stuff. Analise could not tell what it was.

Her first guess was that there was an explosion. Scott probably did not expect she would enter the kitchen, so he did not clean it up.

However, Analise did not hear any noise earlier. Thus, she figured Scott might have used some high-tech gadget to block out the sounds in the kitchen. Either that, or she had just been too absorbed in petting Finlay.

Quietly, Analise walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. Thankfully, there were some potatoes and beef left.

Alas, Analise preferred beef that was cooked longer. She decided to pass on the protein. Sighing deeply, she took four potatoes and quickly peeled them. Then, she washed and cut them into thin strips.
